Paying premium prices for quality items in this country doesn't always equate to good after sales service. So I thought credit due ..

I spent a long long time reading / watching youtube reviews on the Sena 20S .. Then Sena TH who are represented by BT Bike shop in Bangkok had a promotion and the price was 9000B for a single and 16000B for a pair.

I took the plunge, I was well happy - the battery life is amazing, it has a port to use earbuds, the voice control really works. Playing music, I was able to ride for 2-3 days while touring for 8+ hours a day without charging.

Until the return leg, When I hit the heaviest rain I had ever seen in more than 15 years of living in Thailand, I had no choice but to keep on riding to get to my hotel before nightfall. After reaching the hotel I turned the hair drier on all my electronics, and in the morning, one of the buttons, the one that switches on the voice command mode had stopped working.

I could still use the functions manually or by using the "Hi Sena" voice command and the function on the button came back after a day.

Functionality lasted for a couple of weeks, again, in the rain - the button stopped working again. After further research I found that the communicator isn't as waterproof as it should be and there were a few unhappy people on the web.

I returned my set to BT Bike shop, within three days of dispatch he confirmed the communicator had an issue and two days later I received a replacement communicator, he didn't replace the helmet mount, which may be an issue in the future, but its now working as its supposed to.

If your in the market for a communicator - then give BT a call and try a Sena.

Cheers. Something I'm investigating to buy too.

The only thing I don't like about the 20S is when you are listening to music, the GPS cuts in abruptly and announces the directions.

Sena advertise a audio multi tasking system, which is when you use the communicator whilst listening to music the music volume dips and the communication overlays the music. Seems like a lot of people thought GPS commands should follow suite.

Other users comment that there is no individual volume control as the GPS came louder than their music / vox com - I have never experienced this with my old zumo.

But this is not a fault of the Thai distributor.

The good points far outweigh the negatives, even silly features, the missus loves playing around with the FM radio function on hers, I'm still confused how it works but she seems happy enough sitting on the back scanning through the stations on long trips.
