Beckham plays on the right........Downing plays on the left.........so I would say they were competing for different places on the team sheet!

Anyway, Beckham has given great service to his country but think it may be time for him to give way to the young blood......he has lost his pace, but he still can cross the ball.......why do you think he has opted to stay in Spain?? Slower pace of football maybe??? Premiership is to fast for him now.

Exactly, we're not talking about the premiership. We're talking about internationals and i still think there is a place for Becks

And where do all of our Internationals apply their trade???.....the Premiership! speed is good! so your saying that we should slow down the way the rest of the team play to include Beckhams style? Having the guy only for set plays is a bit much if you ask me.

Time for Beckham to make way for the likes of Arron Lennon......we need players in the side now who are gonna mount a serious challenge for our next Euro champ squad.

Forget Becks, he's gone now. Great servant to English football but his time has passed. Downing only gets a game because there is literally no other English left winger ANYWHERE!

Playing Stevie G wide right is a nonsense! Personally I would play Lennon left, Wright-Phillips right, Gerrard and Hargreaves in the middle. Lampard not good enough at international level and would be sub for Gerrard, Parker can sub for Hargreaves and Downing and Joe Cole as alternative wingers.

Sack Rio as well, too inconsistent and an accident waiting to happen.

Nope, ain't saying that at all. But if speed is that good, why didn't we do well in the WC ? Having speed is OK but not if your just running around like a very fast headless chicken. Our premiership sides do pretty well in Europe but they're full of foreigners who already know how to play against other international players.

I still think Becks could at least help us to qualify. Our set pieces on saturday where cr4p. Becks can still cross with pin point accuracy and has he has done many a time, it only takes ONE of his deadly balls to win a match. Could of done with just one of them aagainst Macedonia

I think that Beckham could do a job in the centre for the next couple of years, instead of the inept Lampard. At the very least he's a good passer of the football who works hard, knows how to keep possession, and has a bit more vision than Fat Frank.
