Father Dies in Fire After Saving His Three Children
Picture from responders. A fire at a three-storey commercial building in Lampang’s Mae Tha district on 2 February, claims the life of a father who ensured his three children reached safety before succumbing to the flames. At around 13:00 the local 191 emergency centre received reports of a fire at a shop selling consumer goods in the Kad Mek area, along the Lampang-Mae Tha Road. Firefighters from Khelang Nakhon Municipality and the Lampang Rescue Association were dispatched immediately to battle the blaze. The building, a four-unit structure, housed the shop on the ground floor while the owner’s family resided on the upper floors. The fire is believed to have started on the second floor of two adjoining units, rapidly spreading due to the densely packed commercial and residential area. Firefighters worked urgently to prevent it from spreading further. Initial reports indicate that the owner, a 52-year-old man identified as Mr Chai, was inside the building with his three children, two boys and a girl, aged between 8 and 12, when the fire broke out. Realising the danger, he led them to safety, instructing them to escape to the rooftop and call for help. The children were later rescued by shop employees from an adjoining building and brought to safety, unharmed. However, their father did not make it out. According to the children, their father guided them to the rooftop but did not follow. Instead, they heard him cry out in pain before he disappeared back into the smoke. Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour before discovering Mr Chai’s body in the charred interior of the building. Authorities believe he may have been overcome by smoke, preventing him from escaping. The police and forensic teams are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. -- 2025-02-03 -

Using the example I gave of stupidity. Do you seriously believe that any of the factors you have listed is at play? How much education does someone need to know that you can't just stop in the r/h lane of a fast moving 4 lane system, indicate and cut across 3 other lanes to go to a market stall. You cannot be serious. This is a wind up. Rubbish!!! -

UOB Bank Incoming Transfer Deposit Codes?
Does anyone know the UOB Bank deposit codes used for the different types of deposits that will appear on UOB savings account statements and for passbook entries? Specifically, I’m looking for the codes used for: • Incoming overseas bank wire transfers • Local incoming bank transfers from another Thai bank • Transfers between two of your own personal UOB accounts • Incoming transfers received from Wise If anyone has experience with this or can share the exact transaction codes, I’d appreciate the insight. -

Man arrested after 18 years for assaulting minor in Thailand

He was accused of luring a 17 year old girl, Bee, on a trip to Bang Saen Beach, where he later got her drunk before committing sexual assault. Police Colonel Witthaya Sriprasertphap, acting commander of the Crime Suppression Division, ordered the arrest, carried out by Police Colonel Wiwat Jitsopakun and Police Colonel Warat Sermsujit, today, February 2. Apichat was detained outside a residence in Mueang district, Lop Buri province. The arrest was based on a warrant issued on October 24, 2006, by the Chachoengsao Provincial Court, charging him with taking a minor under 18 for lewd acts and rape. In 2006, Apichat resided in Chachoengsao province and invited Bee, a 17 year old acquaintance from his neighbourhood, along with friends, to visit Bang Saen Beach in Chon Buri province. On their return, Apichat deceived Bee into continuing the drinking session at his residence in Mueang district, Chachoengsao province. Subsequently, noticing Bee’s inebriation, Apichat took her to a bedroom and assaulted her. Upon regaining consciousness, Bee disclosed the incident to her parents, who reported it to the Chachoengsao city police. Apichat fled the area immediately after the crime, reported KhaoSod. After remaining a fugitive for over 18 years, Apichat was eventually captured. During interrogation, he confessed to the charges. He was subsequently handed over to the Chachoengsao city police for legal proceedings. Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In similar news, a high school teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a 13 year old girl in the art classroom of a school in the northern province of Phitsanulok over several months. The parents of the 13 year old victim filed a complaint against the male teacher at Mueang Phitsanulok Police Station and later shared details of the case with DailyNews on January 21.
