An old condo I have is 5amp, the building manageress said that it should be upgraded to 15amp if I want to fit 2 aircons to the unit.

She said it costs about 3,600 baht for the government upgrade.

Does it all sound about right?

Cheer.

Sounds reasonable, there should be a refundable deposit on the 5/15 meter which you can offset against the deposit on the 15/45.

Be aware that the cable from meter to distribution board may need upgrading before the authority (MEA or PEA) will change the meter. Ask them when you request the change.

This is a bit older picture of the sign at a PEA office with the costs per meter so it should give you an idea

We made a mistake and got the much highest rate supply. They insisted on reinstalling cable to the house as the old blue cable was no longer acceptible and it had to be the new black cable. I think that is now multicore. The cost of the cable was very high the labour was cheap. That is for a house not a condo but just take expensive cable into account...and possibly a new connection board too.

Just as a postcript on the above post.....

Despite having the power to run a factory or large hotel available she who must be obeyed insists that we cannot have two induction cookers going at the same time or we will use too much electicity and start a fire...choice hot meat and cold veg or hot veg and cold meat.
