Road trip Bangkok to Ubon via Aranyaprathet

Featured Replies

Recently did this family holiday road trip and posted it in the Isaan forum here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/858769-driving-from-bangkok-to-ubonstay-where-see-what/ .

The first page and a bit was me asking questions of where to go, where to stay, etc.

The report text and photos commence on page 2 at post #44 to #50

We travelled Bangna-Trat elevated, then Chachoengsao, then the 304, then the 359 to Aranyaprathet (visited Pang Sida National Park/Waterfall and Rong Kleua Market).

Then Muang Tam and Phanom Rung Khmer ruins and on to stay in Buriram (visiting the Football Stadium and Motor-racing Track/Stadium, and the extinct volcano Khao Kradung),

To Kantharalak (visiting Khao Phra Viharn in Sisaket Province and Wat Larn Kuat (Wat 1,000,000 bottles).

To Ubon (visiting Sirindhorn Dam/Reservoir),

Then via Sai Mun (small village which is famous for producing gongs and drums for Wats) to Pha Taem National Park near Khong Chiam (pronounced Khong Jiam). Pha Taem National Park has the famous walk under the cliff top which has the most ancient paintings in Thailand plus an amazing view across the Mekong to Laos. Khong Chiam is where the Mekong and Mun rivers mee to make the 2 coloured river. Visited Sang Chan waterfall and a duty-free shopping trio at Chong Mek border crossing.

Great trip!

Really enjoyed the report and pics. Thanks.

Have a great day
