No plan to sell Big C
The Nation

THAILAND -- Big C Supercentre quashed a rumour, insisting that its largest shareholder, Casino Group, had no plan to sell the Thai hypermarket chain.

"The rumour was groundless," the company said in a statement, following a rumour widespread in social media.

Casino on December 15 affirmed the plans to expand business in Thailand, which included the establishment of a real estate investment trust and the opening of six more hypermarket outlets and 75 Mini Big C outlets in 2016.

Didn't they buy carrefour about 3-4 years ago?

I am not sure who they could sell it to, lotus or tops may not be wealthy enough and I would prefer less monopolies anyway....

I agree, they shouldn't sell it, better would be to close it down.

At the time when Carre Foure was being sold, oil and petroleum conglomerate PTT was also a bidder but lost out to Big C.

And in other news Chelsea board said "Jose is here to stay"

So what does soccer have to do with the business sale of Big C?

Maybe you should be in another forum.

You should have just ignored his post instead of wasting time posting, like I just have. :-)

When I look at the amount of empty shelves, and products that are replaced by a low cost noodle soup or whatever at Big C extra in Pattaya, I get the impression that they are selling out for quite some time already.

The largest shareholder is บริษัท เสาวนีย์โฮลดิ้งส์ จำกัด with 26.46% of the shares.

Biggest shareholder is Géant Casino with about 32%.

Maybe Big C could be like 7 and just sell takeaway noodles to Chinese tour groups.Plenty of room to park, just keep em away from the shopping trolleys, must have license. You know it makes sense.

Tesco is owned by CP group, so they should have enough funds

It's called analogy.

For those who are not Brits, it is normal practice for a football manager to get a vote of confidence on a Saturday evening from his board, only to be sacked on the following Monday morning.

We will not sell, Fridays statement, Monday morning, we shall see.

Sorry my fault. CP sold most of their shares.

Government should shut them down instead for all the scams they run, at least that is what should happen if they did the same in their origin country.

Yesterday at Big C extra in Pattaya they were selling KU ( Khaset University) beef burgers that were light beige color instead of red.

I asked the butcher why they were that color, and was answered that they added breadcrumbs and onion and eggs etc to the mix, though I would have assumed that you still would have seen some red meat if it actually was beef.

The price however was still the same as for pure KU beef burgers, and so was the label.
