dddave Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Has a deadline been announced for free Win-10 updates?
KhunBENQ Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) You probably refer to the free upgrades from Win 7 and Win 8. I remember it was one year from Win 10 release (was it in August?). A "couple of months" left for others to do the beta test Edited December 24, 2015 by KhunBENQ
RichCor Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 The initial 'time window' for claiming/upgrading from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Window 10 will run from July 29 2015 and last one year. Windows 10 is here -- And you can get it for free. Upgrade confidently - 100+ million fans have upgraded and are loving it. You’ll have a free, full version of Windows 10 -- not a trial or a lite version -- if you complete your upgrade before July 29, 2016. If you wait past that point then the offer expires. If you have already successfully upgraded a PC to Windows 10, then rolled back (for whatever reason) then that specific PC is eligible to reinstall Windows 10 for the life of that machine. As for how long Microsoft will offer Windows 10 ongoing 'updates' for free is up to Microsoft. Microsoft Windows lifecycle fact sheet Windows.Microsoft.com | Last updated: October 2015 If a device is upgraded within the first 12 months after the Windows 10 launch, it will continue to receive Windows 10 updates for free throughout its life. However, this excludes Windows Enterprise and RT devices.
