New live music venue in Ubon, Blues Heaven

Featured Replies

A new live (western) music venue just opened in Ubon about 2 blocks south of Ubonrak hospital on the east side of Burahaphani road where it meets Khuean Thani road. It's as far south as you can go on the road before you get to the gas station before the 100 Year Somdet Phra Sri Nakharin bridge that goes across the Mun.

An English-speaking Thai keyboardist is the manager and their five piece band plays live music every night for 21:00 to 24:00. They play a mix of older pop and rock and a small amount of blues. I've been there a couple times and they've had guest vocalists and a guy on fiddle so far. I saw some of the band from Smile and musicians from other clubs at the venue.

They serve food from 19:00 and have a large beer selection including Lao Beer lager and dark. It hasn't been that busy yet but I've seen zero advertising. I just happened to drive by and noticed their sign. I think they just opened on the 20th of December.

Thanks I posted an enquiry about this joint a few days ago in the Ubon developments thread. Sounds like a potentially good addition. Maybe I can factor in a quick sortie there on Monday night's Ubon Hash bar crawl (see other thread below).

I was there tonight. The owner came by and sat with me. Very nice guy. I believe his name is Mr. Powers but I could be mistaken. As it was mentioned, they played basically 60"s, 70"s and 80"s music. I was impressed.I would have like some Blues but what they played was very good. Reminded me of 1969 when I was stationed here. They have snack food and I had two Leo's and the bill was 162 baht. Clean friendly place. I believe he has a Facebook page. Blue"s Heaven.
