Booze Ban near Bali Hai for New Years

Featured Replies

Pattaya Mail says they'll ban booze near Bali Hai for New Years.

"City hall is considering banning alcohol sales at its three-day Pattaya Countdown concert and fireworks festival at Bali Hai Pier" - See more at: http://www.pattayamail.com/#sthash.2erS6afX.dpuf

Won't affect me, as I always avoid crowds that size, as well as any event with the word 'concert' in it in Thailand, but the powers that be really are clueless sometimes.

Why are they clueless? Alcohol is banned at many similar types of NY events all over the world. As long it is only at the event itself it makes nothing but sense. That said, it is still only a proposal.

Clueless because it is within spitting distance of Walking Street.

It's akin to banning sand from blowing across the road in a desert.

The ban would only be at the concert/fireworks site which is well away from the main part of Walking Street and just means there won't be the usual beer stalls selling beer and other alcohol and people won't be able to carry alcohol in with them. Everywhere else will be business as usual - if the ban goes ahead.
