'One inmate a week' released in error

LONDON: -- Prisoners are being released early by mistake at a rate of just under one every week in England and Wales, figures have revealed.

Ministry of Justice data obtained by the Press Association shows it has happened 505 times in the past decade.

Cases have included those in prison for murder and other violent offences.

Tory MP Philip Davies called the findings "disturbing", but the Prison Service said such incidents were "very rare" and becoming less common.

Just goes to show that we have a misplaced confidence that the Powers That Be are any better qualified and competent than any one of us to be in the positions they are. No wonder there is a crisis of confidence in the western world of our leadership...

'... the Prison Service said such incidents were "very rare" and becoming less common.' One a year would be too common, yet these idiots see one a week as very rare.

'Martynas Kupstys ... on remand for murder ... was returned to custody after waiting at a nearby bus stop for three hours ...' How fortunate for HMP, to have such cooperative customers.

This from the same country wanted to try to make a go on it's own.?

You hit the nail on the head mate. It's because the UK is wrapped up in all this EU red tape that these things are happening. Won't be long before they stop us jailing them in the first place. Just a bunch of corrupt, interferring lefties.

Get us out for gawd's sake.

You had one job. Same thing happened in the US. Lifetime civil service is the scourge of most governments.

Mistakes happen. But that is not why this is a story. This is a story and getting responses because it is always happening. Something incompetent happens so much that is has now come to define the State across the board.

The Leviathan. The rise of the Regulatory State where civil servants have pretty much life time appointments, cant be removed, and produce regulation burdens with the force of law. It is destroying America and likely UK too.
