How to teach Google Chrome to speak English if I can't read Thai?

I've just installed Chrome. It's in Thai, and, since I can't read that, I can't see any way of changing the language or any other settings.

Incidentally, this Chrome has no visible menu bar or tool bar: just tabs and address bar. Three horizontal lines presumably indicate settings, but clicking everything in turn has got me nowhere.

Help, please.

Nice video, but I bet the dialogs come up in Thai script?

In this case enter in the address line what you see in the picture and hit <ENTER> to open.

(the forum SW does not allow to enter this chrome address for whatever reason)

And then hopefully you will see a dialog like this:

Step 1) is clicking through the list until you see 2).

Then hit button 3), then 4).

Close and restart Chrome.

Recheck the settings (spellcheck etc.).

If you don't find ... English by clicking through the list, let me know.

I would like a browser that would automatically translate any language on any web page accurately. Someone must come up with one eventually...hopefully in my lifetime. :D

why you download Chrome in Thai language?

Because I'm in Thailand and if you download Google Chrome here that's what you get. Unless there's a clever way to avoid that. If so, I didn't find it.

Anyway, thanks again to all who chipped in.

Actually, taiping made a good point. The search engine is now in English - no problem - but if I click on Apps everything in the Web Store comes up in Thai. Any suggestions, anyone?

I remain amazed that, with all the clever people working for them, Google should make such a mess of this. How hard would it be to add an alternative language at the time of installation?

I also wonder why ozyjob is laughing. Does he work for Google perhaps? Do the staff get their kicks from creating this sort of situation?

Uninstall Chrome and download it again. If you go to the download site via the English version of Google,it should download in English automatically.

Try this link: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/

That would make sense, wouldn't it? That's exactly what I did, with the results discussed above. And your link also takes me to a page in Thai. Google are cleverer than us: they know that only Thais should be using computers in Thailand.

And thank you, harry. That's helpful.

I'm in LOS and when hit the link I get it in English, doesn't make sense. Maybe try going through Google US or another English speaking country and see what happens

I just tried to download Chrome....in English. I used "filehippo". No problems at all

I gather that this is only in Chrome as this is what the thread is about....hopefully it is an improvement over the one in IE that translates with Microsoft translator which is very inadequate. Firefox, which I use does not have any option. I don't use the Chrome browser as I have had major problems with it in the past. Thanks for the info.

right clicking on the page and ponting to translate gives a good translation of most pages

By good I mean a translation that can tell you enough to know what the page is about and generall get an understanding of it or navigate.

The quality of the translation varies but in general would be well above the quality of a translattion done by most Thai "english" speakers.

No, it doesn't make sense. I wonder whether it has anything to do with the ISP. I'm using TOT in Hua Hin.
