thinking of a trip to phuket area

Thinking about a trip into Phuket

Is it still quite busy in the area? Would I be better off going to places like Kata, Karon etc?

Looking for some suggestions

1. I rather not be right smack into tourist central

2. I can drive a motorbike so am very flexible about driving around

3. Want to check out beaches but am fine with finding those mysterious ones

4. Is it easy to drive around the area, from Kata to Phuket Town for example

Looking for suggestions and thoughts

thanks

Best give Patong a miss ..

4. Is it easy to drive around the area, from Kata to Phuket Town for example

The road network is easy enough to navigate, but the drive skills required is challenging given the lunacy on the roads.

Please Google a map from Phang Nga. ( The province right before Phuket) You'll find Takua Pa, which is on the way to Phuket, about 70- to 80 km.

From Takua Pa, drive along the beach heading towards Khao Lak, but do not drive that far and try to find a nice place on the right hand side, called Bang Sak..Bang Sak is a long beach area, where you'll find the right place you're looking for.

If you're looking for companionship, drive to Pkuket, or just check out Khao Lak, look for the right one and take her to Bang Sak.....

You'll find beautiful beaches, a nice place to stay, depending on the size of your wallet.

If you believe me and you try it, please get back and post how you liked it. You won't regret it, forget the overprized Phuket area.

It's like a paradise. Give it a try, you've got nothing to lose. Cheers.- wai2.gif

Check out Kamala - nice beach, quieter town, only 15 minutes from Patong and closer to the better beaches on the NW coast. Closer to the airport too.

Most of Phuket is a tourist zone so that will be tough to avoid, but sure if you are thinking of Kata, great beach, good restaurants some action about; in case the off track N.Khao Lak sounds a little boring. Other Phuket areas to consider, Bangtao,Karon, Rawai & Rawai Beach.

2. I can drive a motorbike so am very flexible about driving around

As mentioned be ready for some wacky driving skills and wear a helmet, you should be fine.

3. Want to check out beaches but am fine with finding those mysterious ones

Google Earth I think has taken a bit of mystery away, maybe jump a longtail from Rawai beach out to some of the nearby island beaches.

4. Is it easy to drive around the area, from Kata to Phuket Town for example

Kata Hill can sometimes be a little hairy with the cement trucks and buses, but yes. Phuket Town roads can be a little confusing but only a couple ways in and out so you'll end up somewhere familiar and get turned back around.

Most of all have fun.
