Hi there,

I bought a PSI S2 HD receiver from Lazada, as I saw a promotional price of only 690 Baht. I have a KU sat dish from Truevison, but only use their free service with a smart card. All we have to do is top up my wife's phone card once per month for 300 Baht.

Now what are my options with this PSI receiver box? Can I just hook it up and play? I bought it because I saw at my wife's hairdresser shop that they have such a box and get heaps of nice channels in HD. The owner doesn't pay anything pr month. Does anyone of you have such a box? Thanks in advance for your input.

Dario.... Did it work mate? I have a true vision red sat. Looking for a receiver to work from it for free channels. Assuming the PSI S2 HD is the cheapest receiver that I guess will work as on the same KU band. Please let us know and any recommendations before I make a purchase.

Have a look at LyngSat website. They track all the programming available via satellites worldwide.

Looking at the tabled listing for -->> Thaicom 5/6/8 at 78.5°E <<---

The table will list frequency and polarization (which you can ignore as the DVB-S2 sat box takes care of all this), program group owner, channel programming being rebroadcast, any encryption type (if subscription only programming), and audio language notations.

Frequencies between 3000/8000 require a C-Band LNB and a large 2.4m - 3.7m (meter) reflector dish.

Frequencies between 11000/18000 require a Ku-Band LNB and the smaller 75cm - 150cm (1.5m) reflector dish.

At the very bottom you'll see a color key describing program quality and encryption

Since PSI does not a 'package' provider (does not offering subscription-only content), they will primarily only recognize the 'clear' (Free-to-air) programming send unencrypted.

LyngSat also lists all the -->> Free-to-Air channels available in Thailand <<-- and the satellites they are broadcast from.
Some DVB-S2 receivers can be coupled to multiple LNBs pointed at different satellites to auto-select and tune to the correct pre-positioned satellite feed. Though, there isn't much of interest these days, most people will lean heavily towards the Internet to get their Movie and TV fix.

I have one of these PSI S2 HD boxes hooked up to a True satellite dish. Ku Band LNB.

It gets the normal FTA Thai channels (for Mrs LSF to watch soaps). It also has Mono 29 which shows mainly movies and TV series (mostly in English). It also has PPTV channel 36 which shows a handful of EPL games per season. All free.
