I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a stroke therapy clinic in Bangkok (occupational therapy, physical therapy, cognitive therapy,...).

My mother-in-law is visiting from Canada where she suffered a stroke last year. She is quite functional but her short-term memory seems a bit poor and she has some weakness in her left arm/hand. I would love to see her regain her very strong cognitive abilities.

Thanks

Unfortunately the quality of rehab services in Thailand is pretty poor. Nothing at all like what is available in the West. And virtually nothing in terms of cognitive therapy.

I really doubt you would gain anything other than expense in trying this here, especially given that she has probably already had therapy in Canada. Sorry to be negative, but it's the case.

Not sure what her stroke affected, but years ago my dad had a stroke, and basically it killed off a portion of his brain, it was clearly visible on the cat scan. This was in Canada and we took him to all the best specialists, but because a portion of his brain was basically dead, they said, at least at that time (13 years ago) there was really nothing they could do about restoring cognitive ability. If they couldn't do it in Canada I don't think they could in Bangkok. I brought my dad to Thailand after his stroke, it was a real stressful time for me, but my dad had a great time.
