Hi guys.

as you know if you are retired over 50, if you married with thai citizen or if you have members of your family thai citizen (children) you have right to get non Immigrant O visa.

Can you explein me why thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur can refuse this visa if you are not married (or you are divorced) but you have thai nationality child, even if you also have letter from thai court about your parental responsabilty.

They don't follow the rules of thai immigration and thai government.

Isn't illegal to refuse that visa?

Unfortunately they have the right to refuse any visa application. Embassies and consulates often have individual requirements and don't always offer the full range of visas allowed by the MFA. They are not the only place with this policy.

KL is known for being difficult. You should have no problem getting a non 'O' as a parent from Penang.

They will do a single entry non-o in KL based upon marriage to a Thai or for being the parent of a Thai but you will likely need to show 400k baht in the bank.

Maybe just an unfortunate choice of word but no-one has a "right" to be issued with any type of visa.

About Penang I heard now when you pass border in Sadao you will asked to give them 200 baht tip. Otherwise you will asked to wait many hours and lot the chance to back in Samui in the same day.

Anyone have news about that?

the 200 baht will not affect you as you will be getting a visa, which requires an overnight stay.

this 200 baht tip is common practise at lots of crossings

in the uk its impoosible to get at most places a 50 year + visa.

Rules do vary from consulate to consulate. KL was not the best choice, especially for a non-malay national.

Best bet is to go to Penang for non-O multiple for visiting family (thai spouse, child)

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/868463-non-o-multiple-visiting-family-success-again-in-penang/

Use part of this guide to help you get there:

In regards to sadao/danok border. You should have no issues if you hold a valid visa. The overnight stay requirement is only true in some cases of people doing Out-In Border run [Thai >> Malay >> Thai].

That wont apply to you coming fron Penang.

Let us know how it turns out.
