Traffic cones Kata-Chalong hills

Featured Replies

Anyone have any idea why the traffic cones have appeared on the Chalong hill part of Patak Road? They look as though they are properly secured so not a one-off. Could it be they are installing a permanent barrier or traffic island? Are they trying to prevent dangerous overtaking on the downhill part? Is it the latest phase in trying to stop buses plummeting over the side?

And how long before most of them are dislodged after being hit by vehicles, the same as the last ones?

These are new ones that appeared over the weekend and effectively remove one lane of traffic travelling from Kata towards Chalong.

I also wondered about those with the most likely being they will erect permanant solid barriers.

What about where they have cut a narrow groove in the road outside the school leading up to the circle coming from Rawai? Could this be for digging up another lengthy section of road?

I just drove down to the circle (try to avoid these days !) and I see what you mean. Looks to me that they are are trying to make the road separation more clear, complete with some lights from low electric cross wires. I wonder how soon a high truck will take those wires out !

Or maybe they plan some central barrier construction - oh well, wait and see ...
