AIS - Mobile data (per minute) extremely increased costs?

Featured Replies

Did I missed something, or have the costs of mobile data per minute, significantly increased?

I remember a few months ago, Mobile Data was charged at 1 Baht/min without any data-plan.

Today I've received two messages like "you have used Internet for 10 Baht now....", even I've used it only for max. one minute and turned it off.

The second time I've tested it, I turned mobile data on and immediately off. (maybe five seconds on)

The same message arrived and ten Baht were charged...

w_t_f is going on?

Maybe charged per MB and not by the minute. Check your main package or just buy a bundle.

10 baht for 100MB for 24 hrs *777*70#

or unlimited for 24hrs for the same. *777*209# if promo code still works.

Check your main package

*121*3#

If no package is booked then a respective message comes up immediately.

Otherwise you will receive an SMS.

AIS wanted me to travel 90 km to cancel there SIM card ,could not cancel it where I lived ( monthly contract) ev eventually I went there and did it ,paid all fees and a month later they send me a bill for another 1 baht saying my account not closed and still charge me the monthly payments untill I payed the second final bill ,never again AIS ,date far more good and you can buy additional time validity with dtac

No, for my second "test", I just switched "Mobile data" on and off, but didn't use Internet - 10 Baht gone.

PS: I know, that there are lot of "data packages" available, but in the past AIS charged 1 Baht/min, which was ok, if you only want to use the Online Translator for a few seconds.

No additional packages, I've checked this already via AIS E-services.

So it really seems, AIS charges 10 Baht, even for one minute Internet use...

OR, is it maybe an "LTE surcharge", in the past I used only 3G?

Last month I was burning through additional charges, over my package. Never happened like this previously but I had been traveling and using GPS a lot. I went to the AIS shop to inquire. Low and behold, they had cancelled my package, without telling me. No reason given. They renewed my package and all has returned to normal. Oops, somewhere in the system but I have lived here long enough that it is water off a duck's back....

I had a similar problem with AIS in as much as I was being charged for mobile data even though I had no package and my mobile data was turned off. It took a couple of phone calls to get them to correct their "system error" and to refund me the money the had taken from my PAYG balance. Fortunately they sent me texts advising me of the debits to my balance or I may not have noticed my credit being chipped away at. System Error or scam?
