Dunno Chaiyaphum but do have True Gold package satellite here in Sisaket province. That package has Channel TSP (True Sport) 4, franchised from the Irish network Setanta, which is the international rugby channel.

Prefer union code myself (and that slightly less than Premier League round-ball!), but do watch the occasional NRL game. In season I believe that there is little else on TSP4-Setanta and Aussies I know are glued to the thing for hours on end at the weekend in a certain expat bar in Ubon ('N-Joy') if you are ever that way! You'll be pleased to know that Setanta is high quality HD and True's signal is generally pretty reliable except in rainy season heavy thunderstorms (typically July to October). Loads of replays throughout the week too. I think you'll be in 7th heaven. Forget looking for doctors and vets - kick the dog into touch she'll only want walks when there are good games showing. [Your canine pet will also need a distracting amount of attention!]

It's worth checking out if one of the cheaper packages shows TSP4. Setanta used to be carried by TrueV on packages called Super Family and Super Knowledge (but curiously not on Super Sport) at two-thirds and one-third respectively the monthly rental cost of Gold package. That was 3 years ago, when I was last researching my watching options. Probably all changed - check out True Visions website here: http://truevisionsgroup.truecorp.co.th/

Steve mutual support group - my name too! Enjoy Isaan - we all do.

Clarification - it's TS HD4 channel 669 that carries Setanta. The RU 6 nations stuff seems to ocme up on a different TS channel, but I'm pretty sure the stuff you want is on TS HD4

Hi Steve,

I live in the Nongbuodaeng area, roughly 50k from Chaiyaphum city.

I'm from Glasgow, UK, hence football is my passion, not rugby. Re. good Doctor etc., you will find that a lot of Doctor's who work in the hospitals

in/around Chaiyaphum have their own clinics. IMO, the Thai state hospitals are every bit as good as the private hospitals, who are driven by money/crazy profit.

Assuming that you are from Australia, I can tell you that most of my friends in the Nongbuodaeng area are from Oz... a smashing crowd let me tell you.

Best of British to you with your move to Thailand, but please remember that the Thai way of life and culture is vastly different from OZ, the UK etc.

Cheers

For the dentist, not too much in this thread but for a start:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/857854-dentist-in-chaiyaphum/

I don't live in Chaiyaphum, so it's not a recommendation.

Hospital:

info in the forum is scarce.

All I can tell you is, that the private hospital chain "RAM" operates one in Chaiyaphum (I see it when driving past).

"Chaiyaphum RAM hospital"

Of course as a provincial capitol it has a big government hospital.

Usually quite crowded, long wait and queues.

The doctors usually work in their private clinics or at the private hospitals when off duty from the government hospital.

So best time to see a doctor in private is after about 5 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays.

That's how it works in Thailand.

Don't expect any reasonable English knowledge with the staff at clinics/hospitals and even the doctors have their pain with English language.

BTW: I think you are better off to split off your questions to different threads with meaningful titles like "Dentist in Chaiyaphum" etc.

thank you to all members for your help. I was in GLASGOW in 1973 had a great time. valleycoffee1.gif

Hi Steve, my name's Gordon ... Glasgow has changed very much since '73, although IMO, some of the changes are not so good.

In the last few years, due to the influx of Eastern European immigrants, crime is on the UP BIG TIME.

Drugs, people trafficking etc.

If I were living in Glasgow now, I'd be on my soap-box screaming for the UK to leave the IMO, fraudulent corrupt EU.

I obviously keep in touch with a lot of my friends who live in/around Glasgow, and they're all '' screaming'' for the UK TO BAIL OUT.

I ONLY HOPE THAT ON 23RD JUNE, THE BRITISH PEOPLE VOTE TO LEAVE THE EU.

Why not '' google '' GETBRITAINOUT, it's a good read and gives you a little taste of life in the UK.

When in April do you move to Chaiyaphum? Keep in touch.

Cheers Gordon
