The world is pretty much doomed. With 3 billion Asians who don't give a toss about the environment, they throw rubbish away without a single thought. You will soon be able to walk to Hua Hin across a vast pile of rubbish in the Gulf.

The really bad bit about all this is...some of that rubbish belongs to you..... They dump tonnes and tonnes of it at sea out of sight of land - The tides here in the Bay of Siam are not like the tides

Fully agreed. There are few nice beaches left in Thailand. We cruise both sides of the country and even remote beaches and islands are often trashed. Really third world, also and specifically in respe

  • The only half decent beaches seem to be the ones that have an economic value, ie for tourists, the longer one lives in Thailand, the more one starts to see it as one huge garbage dump. I love living h

At the beach yesterday just outside Pattaya. Woman came out and emptied her rubbish bin in the water. Didn't even care that people were looking.

No, not just Asians. E. g., http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/environment/sd-me-beach-closures-20170427-story.html

I saw a garbage truck back up to a cliff in Mexico and dump all into the sea.

Guess you haven't traveled much or read.

Its not always Thai trash , some of the plastic has travelled large distances across the ocean . I remember I found a water bottle from Vietnam on Jomtien beach among all the plastic trash .

I try to clean up the beach once a week , it's good exercise.

Or maybe the bottle was dropped by a passing Vietnamese ship ;)

Regardless, nice to see people like you doing your bit, I pick up the odd piece myself, if everyone done a little bit it wouldnt be too much of a problem.

DiCaprio the film star is banned from Indonesia for telling the truth...like he cares about them... but he cares about the planet.

Leo can go get nutted, far as I care. He is responsible for the devastation of Maya Bay ( and the ruination of a film that could have been great, but that's a different thread ).

Apart from the obvious, which is that of course the world is doomed ( in a few billion years the sun will expand and consume it ) humans have indeed proven that they are unworthy to inhabit the planet and Gaia is probably working on a cunning plan to get rid of us. Worked pretty well with the dinosaurs.

Have a nice day.

Bit like Pattaya then, except for the nice setting.

Funny how almost everywhere else has a nicer beach than Pattaya.

I could care less about Ban Chang beach.

Because from my expereince they have some of the friendliest bar girls in the entire country.

Definitely worth the one hour ride and a couple of booms.......
