Is anyone else using googles 8.8.8.8 DNS server?

Currently failing for me at 2 separate locations over last 2 days.

Both use 3BB fibre and relatively close proximity in Pattaya.

Please test and report provider and location - want to determine if it is an isolated, provider, regional or wider issue.

Luckily 8.8.4.4 is working fine, so internets working (though the office somehow setup with a single DNS entry was down yesterday!)

Anyone with a 'nix box simply type the bellow to test

dig google.com @8.8.8.8

This is a success

Sure someone can contribute an equivalent windows check.

Hi. Yes I have the same problem too,

from South Pattaya, using 3BB.

8.8.8.8 is down

but 8.8.4.4 is ok

So currently looks like 3BB issue.

Maybe nationwide or maybe Pattaya.

Any further data to help confirm or expand on this appreciated.

Already had the Mrs call 3BB, typical usual struggle of needing to break past the front line on the phones and get the message to an engineer who knows what DNS is. Will wait and see.

Open a command prompt.

Type NSLOOKUP

Type Server 8.8.8.8

Type (for example) ibm.com

Works fine here so must be a local problem.

I checked it on my Windows PC with DNSJumper and the result is that it is available

TOT WiNet, Buriram

At my site, ToT fibre, Khon Kaen.

8.8.8.8: 38 ms

8.8.4.4: 39 ms

It's down since weeks, Pattaya 3bb.

Good news, it's up.

Miscommunication with Mrs and 3bb came round to fix our Internet despite working fine.

Fought to stop the engineers from messing with my routers settings. Repeated that I didn't want 3bb dns.

Tried and failed to explain what traceroute/ping were to one engineer. Other realised a job for the main networking team and called them.

Eventually left and they called a day or 2 later to ask if it was working. It was.

Bit of a struggle but good that all in Pattaya using Google dns on 3bb now have their backup server back.
