Trump is disliked so much he's Winning

More than 60 percent of all registered voters and 31 percent of Republicans said they definitely would not vote for Trump in the general election.

And Trump even hasn't been nominated yet as the Republican presidential candidate.

That's called Losing.

Well polls tell you nothing in general, it all depends on who they choose to poll. In the great scheme of things none of this matters a jot. The democrats will win which means Clinton. The republicans haven't got an electable candidate, they haven't for years. This has been clear way before the election process kicked off. If Obama could run again he would win even though he is unpopular in many areas.

Face up to dire mess your political system is in USA. The rise of Trump indicates the way the country is split to the point where hatred is becoming the driving force. Just think what legacy you are leaving for your children

I am not crazy about him, but he is better then Hillary or Cruz.

Yeah, sure, it's Hilary that's got the honesty problem. Presenting Politifact's liar of the year 2015: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2015/dec/21/2015-lie-year-donald-trump-campaign-misstatements/

Let's dig deeper. Let's compare Politifacts ratings of the honesty of Hillary, Cruz, and Trump.

The way it works is Politifacts evaluates challenged statements of each candidate. The numbers are percentages

Hilary

True..................23

Mostly True.......27

Half True...........21

Mostly False.....15

False................12

Pants on Fire.....2

Lord. Hillary has terrible numbers. Definitely a bred-in-the-bone liar. I mean her half true, mostly false, false, and Pants on fire statements come to a total of 50%. That's disgraceful. How could bothTed and Donald not do better?

Cruz

True ..................6

Mostly True.......6

Half True...........13

Mostly False.....29

False................29

Pants on Fire.....7

And Cruz has a mere 78% of his statements being rated half true, mostly false, false, and pants on fire.

Well, he's certainly set a high bar for Donald to outlie.

Trump

True...................2

Mostly True.......6

Half True...........15

Mostly False.....16

False................41

Pants on Fire....19

You've got to give Donald credit. A score of 91%. Very few people could outcompete Ted when it comes to dishonesty. The man is a thoroughbred.
So the conclusion might be, with Hilary you've got a 50% chance of her statements being true or close to true. That's bad because it creates so much uncertainty. But with Donald you can pretty much count on him lying. Go Trump!

I am far more afraid of Cruz than Trump. Trump is basically a wind bag egomaniac but

generally a affable guy with a successful business. He will bring sides together, but be

careful negotiating with Trump. He is going to leave the negotiating table a winner,

whether the deal is going to be a win-win so to speak depends on the deal. whistling.gif

They're BOTH very, very bad but in different ways.

I don't see Trump as bringing sides together.

He is massively DIVISIVE and his base is racist, misogynist, and xenophobic.

Cruz attracts a core of homophobes.

Choose your poison, silly republicans.

I forgot to include Bernie Sanders in the Politifacts rating:

True..................15

Mostly True.......34

Half True...........20

Mostly False.....17

False................15

Pants on Fire.....

At 51% total of the bottom 4 vs. Hillary's 50%, I'd say they're about even. But considering that Hillary did get dinged for Pants on Fire lies, I'll give the edge to Bernie. And not just that. A new campaign slogan, too: Bernie, slightly more honest than Hillary.

Given that the demographic most supportive of Trump is older, less educated, and white, I don't think you can rule out homophobia. As for Ted, I'd say his core is the .01 percent. You know the ones who keep the less educated and more bigoted all riled up about race and sex, so while they're distracted about that, they can cut their own taxes, slash social security and Medicare, and keep all the productivity gains of the 99.9 percent

Not sure if you are joking because of the smiley at the end of your post but.

" He will bring sides together,"

How is Trump going to bring sides together, when he cant even bring his own side together?

" Trump is basically a wind bag egomaniac but

generally a affable guy "

How is he affable when 70% of the people dont like him?

What an appalling indictment of the state of US politics.

Definitely not good. But at least there's a choice. So many around the world don't have this option.

What choice in reality? The public can only express a desired mandate. The selection eventually is not theirs.

Foolish SPIN. Hillary has a history of lying about matters that affect Presidential elections and national security. The Donald lies about Jeb Bush's energy levels and having big hands. It is not the same thing.

Sounds like one big fat lie to me.

Trump's lied about all sorts of things,

from his offensive "And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering."

To his campaign ad showing Mexicans "swarming over the border"....... in Morocco.

From the OP: "Beyond their generally negative perception of Trump, large majorities also said they would not describe him as civil, compassionate or likable."

Yet, many of those folks will vote for him anyway. It's like people who know donuts and cow meat are not healthy, yet they eat pounds of the stuff every day.

It is hardly a drum beat except the one the media has been beating for a year now telling of Trump's demise including this one that has been done before ... All proven Wrong as Trump marches along gathering delegates

Reminds me of those supporting Romney 4 years ago, who were sure he would prevail over Obama's bid for a 2nd term. What we'll find, in November (if you don't know already), is that Romney was a far better candidate than Trump is (even with R's drawbacks). Plus Romney's poll numbers will prove to outshine Trump's.

Ulic asserts, "He (Trump) is going to leave the negotiating table a winner,"

Oh really? Like Saddam Hussein left Kuwait a winner?

35 to 45% added tariffs on imports will leave Americans winners?

Carpet bombing ISIS and surrounding villages will leave US winners?

I think you and I have different definitions of the word 'winner.'

Or perhaps Trump will win negotiations for the USA - similar to how he wins with his businesses:

Trump Casino folded in Atlantic City due to bad biz decisions + no customers

Note: Christie was involved with Atlantic City tanking.

Perhaps that's why Trump and Christie like each other; partners in failed undertakings.

Trump Airlines never got off the ground

Trump Beef is actually Bush Brothers' Beef (I jest not)

Trump Vodka and Trump Wines are flat, if they even still exist

Trump University is hobbled by legal challenges

.......and that's just a partial list of Trump non-winners.

Whomever wants Trump as Chief Exec has a death wish for America. ISIS loves you.

Trump President in 2017 .... Ted Cruz Member of Supreme Court 2017...

And Sarah Palin, Defense Secretary. She could set her office in Nome Alaska and therefore keep an eye on Russia.

And Chris Christie, director of the outhouse at Nag's Head beach, North Carolina.

Let's not forget Ben Carson: Head of Suspended Animation Studies for Intergalactic Missions (SASIM), NASA

If those were Donald's only lies, there wouldn't be such big problems with his candidacy. Unfortunately, Donald is a habitual liar, and it's been proven dozens of times. Donald must hate video and audio recordings, because it's much harder to deny something when it's been recorded. Maybe that's why he wants to take America back in time: to the days before recordings, when he couldn't be proved wrong every day. He's also a mean-spirited and crude liar. A sophisticated person lies with finesse. Donald lies like a two-bit mafia wannabe tough-guy with a potty mouth. He's got as much class as a spray painted poodle on black velvet.

The argument has been made that Trump is a plant.

If that comes to light where does that leave all his supporters, even all these guys on this Forum?

Voting in the Republican Primaries is head and shoulders over the numbers voting in the Democrat Primary ... Trump wins many polls but also wins in the voting by real people going to the voting booth. Despite the nearsightedness of the Lefties here ... Trump is very popular in NY and the New England States - so finishing up with 1237 delegates and the nomination is entirely possible...

And what the blind leading the blind lefties here do not understand at all... the Trump vote is an Anti-Obama Vote and all he stands for. The Cruz vote is also ... When combined they constitute a huge Revolt against the going on 8 years of obamaism ... Trump has Independents and even Democrats coming out to vote for him... It is a Populist Movement with a great head of steam ...

Blind believers of the Obama Cult just cannot fathom that a huge portion of the American electorate are sick to death of the Obama Regime and that the thought of voting for Hillary or Sanders to continue it will drive Anti-Obama Regime Voters out in droves... all the signs are already there - except for members of the Obama Cult who cannot see them - even it is is big as a billboard ....

Cruz is extremely disliked as well.

Which is good for the democrats.

Kasich is NOT a moderate but he is very likable.

I'm just amused that the republicans have a huge winner in their final three and they're not grabbing at their only and GOOD chance.

It's hilarious!

They all want Kasich out of the contest...Trump, Cruz, the RNC in Washington, the big bucks guyz so there's suddenly an online campaign the past couple of days to try to really force him out.

Previous efforts had been just old fashioned political pressure. Now however the claims have gone ultimately personal. Revived speculation from the 1990s about Kasich in his congressman bachelorhood living 14 years in Washington with his office chief of staff, Don Thibaut.

We know Republicans and their rightwing thugs will stop at nothing. That is in fact where they are now.

Still, Kasich was born and grew up in western Pennsylvania in a Democratic party family then he himself chose to become a Republican. Presently the decision has done him in for Potus but neither was it a wise decision way back then.

I don't believe Kasich WILL drop out. Why should he?

True, unlikely to be nominated, but he's positioned now to be 2nd in New York and that's not chopped liver as he remains a good COMPROMISE candidate between the two massively hated (across parties) choices of creepy Cruz and terrible Trump.

Would he even take VP for Trump or Cruz. Perhaps or even probably but that would be a stupid move because either ticket will LOSE and even in a win it's only VP.

I hope Trump is the Republican candidate. Every poll shows Trump cannot win a General Election. It is a real opportunity for the Democrats to take the House and the Senate and make the significant legislative changes to begin making a government that represents the People rather than the wealthy elite and the greed of Corporate America.

I am constantly spammed by the Democrats for political contributions. I generally vote for "down ticket" Democrats. This year I have made it very clear to the fundraisers that I will not contribute to "Act Blue" and specific Democrat candidates ( except for Tammy Duckworth who my wife sent some money to because she is Chinese Thai) unless they begin to change their actions with regard to Presidential candidates. If superdelegates and funding continue to not reflect the will of the people and if they continue their racist euphemisms such as "firewall" I will no longer be supporting them. Campaigns are run on money and unlike most of the bloviators here I put my money where my mouth is.

This makes no sense. So you're giving Trump a pass because he tells what are essentially "stupid lies?" Like when he said he didn't know that reporter was handicapped, or that he didn't say McCain wasn't a war hero, or....geez, the list is endless. Trump has never had a position in government relating to national security, so obviously, he hasn't had an opportunity to lie about that. But if he was ever given such a position, past behavior guarantees that he will lie his ass off about that as well.

The hard right does not compromise.

Neither Trump nor Cruz as the nominee would choose John Kasich as a vp running mate. Kasich is unacceptable to the Republican base. Kasich is a poison plant to the extremist right wingers who have powerful influence in over the R party in this election year and who are more out on the socio-political fringe than they'd ever been in previous elections of Potus .

Trump would never consider Kasich as veep because, for one thing, Trump undoubtedly sees Kasich as more namby-pamby than Jeb Bush. Kasich has had only a political career since he was elected to the Ohio legislature at age 26, then for 20 years in Congress and now governor of Ohio where K has enriched his pals with a proliferation of state contracts.

The running mate Trump would choose were he the R nominee is anyone's guess, as it might be anyone from a bomb 'em now retired general to an evangelical favorite nutcase such as Bobby Jindal, the former governor of Louisiana. Trying to figure out a Trump running mate is a true challenge to anyone.

Cruz should he be nominated would be the most conservative R candidate since Sen Barry Goldwater in 1964 so he would not compromise either. Goldwater had chosen a completely obscure rightwing congressman from upstate New York, Bill Miller, which further doomed the already sunk Goldwater candidacy. A nominee Cruz might go with supporter Carly Fiorina to try to reclaim moderate suburban Republican married women, also to try to hold Red states west of the Mississippi River, and so Fiorina could attack HRC 24/7 which Fiorina loves doing.

No one in the R voter base wants Kasich as the nominee and he'd be just be useless as vp to both Trump or Cruz, to include any outlier who might enter the contest once the madhouse convention opens its doors.
