Android boxes with DVB and Kodi

Featured Replies

I have a home network mostly built around Kodi on AFTVs.

I have not ever tried to integrate local LiveTV that much..

I was going to order 2 more AFTVs to install into a UK home.. But not that pleased with the way amazon are now deleting launchers and becoming more apple / closed garden. I do like the remote but lack of volume control and a few apps not working well on AFTVs are minor negatives too.

I have just seen these boxes

4k @60 fps.. DVB T and S built in.. Etc etc

Anyone had a play with how well these work for LiveTV on Kodi ?? Speed of channel changes etc ??

I understand in the UK with freeview having a DVB-T gets HD and all kinds of PVR options.. I was going to add another youview box via BT infinity but maybe I can do it all with an android solution ??

No personal experience of the box you mention although I do have KODI loaded to my PC, an 'Android' and a 'M8' android box. All three are hard wired to the Internet router through ethernet cables. KODI works best on my PC and I guess that is because it has a better and more powerful chipset/processor/RAM. Interestingly, the M8 in the bedroom was on wi-fi until I did a speed test. With wi-fi the download speed was less than 5 Mbps. After running an ethernet cable to the box the download speed enjoyed a very dramatic increase to 95 Mbps (3BB - Fibre). That made a big difference to the way KODI works. In the same advertisement you listed they have the Z4 android 5.1 Lollipop OS RK3368 Octa Core 64Bit TV Box Z4 Cortex A53 5.1 2GB RAM 16GB ROM BT 4.0 Dual wifi 2.4G 5.8G AP6335 at $56.68 - virtually the same price as the box you mentioned. However, it has more RAM, a more powerful processor and other features besides. I would buy the box with the higher specification - especially as the price is the same. The price has come down a lot since I last looked at the Octa Core over a year ago.I might just order one myself. Thanks!

The whole question revolves around the DVB card, its android / kodi support..

It does not have to be just kodi nor android to do it, I just did this some people to play with on their MAG254 boxes so they were not left behind - If you want some Thai TV on Kodi there (for years now infact, I must update it soon when I get a tick ) is always my kodi addon for it rather than use live TV - albeit live TV PVR works on most devices and operating systems, link to the repo is here https://forums.tvaddons.ag/mx-repository/
