Prayut: Read Chinese governance book because it suits Thailand

"I've bought copies of this book for my colleagues as well. I want them to understand socialism with Chinese characteristics." —Mark Zuckerberg, Founder & CEO, Facebook

Some have a habit of seeing socialism, capitalism, or any other political system as a unifying ideology is ridiculous. The ruling elite, whichever side they stand on in Thailand, do not see such systems as unifying ideologies, but simply tools. The greater population should look at how these tools are used, and whose hands they are actually in, instead of fixating on the tool itself as being "good" or "bad."

This government and the previous government used tools to "ply their trade" One is doing it to better the country, while the other destroyed it as history has shown yet whose ardent supporters never acknowledge even with the facts presented.

Use the tools wisely Prayut.

Of course some will say I hate Democracy and love Socialism meaning that everything I just said has been lost on them and they have no understanding of the greater context of the narrative I am conveying.

Some will simply bully me out of frustration of an inability to articulate a response to the truth I speak.

You set up some nice straw men, and knock them down easily, while missing the essential tenor of this discussion.

The negative reaction to a Chinese book being used as a reference for governance is not because people are struggling with ideological blinkers; it is because the governance of China is arguably horrible in many significant ways.

Besides, if it is true that book largely contains foreign policy observations, then one could easily question it's relevancy. It is the domestic situation in Thailand that is so out of kilter.

Finally, your reference to what "history has shown" is premature to say the least. The history of the current government is not yet written. There is plenty of time for things to get better or worse.

One thing i know is the Thai people will not under any circumstances allow themselves to be governed as the Chinese do.

They may not have a choice. Please refer to previous military administration behavior. Sadly, the Thammasat University massacre is a sad attestation of that policy.

so when is the 'little yellow book' going to be published to go along with the 'little yellow songs'?

Even more worrying is what the "cultural revolution" might look like.

I believe we have already had a taste of it from when that horrid instigator of violence and abrogation of human rights from the triangle of corruption in southern Thailand was leading his insurrection with the tacit support of the military; when military personnel were moonlighting as "special personal security guards" and when that "monk" was spending more time on fomenting public disorder than on his vows of piousness, poverty and humility. It is demonstrated by ongoing forced attitude adjustment sessions at military installations and the absolute lack of oversight of the military.

The junta is bettering the country?? My god man I guess you will never wake up and smell the roses. Ever wondered why those who believe what you believe are a tiny minority on TVF?

PTP destroyed Thailand? You are a bit of a drama queen, aren't you!

Nonsensical statement of the thread because;

1. Based upon the posts to date, he gives the impression that he has NO understanding of what Democracy is or how it works, so it is unlikely he would be hating actual Democracy.

2. So what if he "loves" socialism? It has nothing to do with China. Socialism has at its core, social justice. China is the one place where social justice is in very short supply.

I doubt anyone cares about his narrative which has to date has been based solely on his unwavering support of the military's suspension of basic civil liberties, the use of secret detention and political indoctrination centers, the expansion of the for profit commercial activities of the military, the denial of elections, the attempt to impose a revised constitution that most people neither want nor asked for and the continuous attempts to agitate and provoke by posting comments that are an affront to anyone who has any respect for social justice, fair and equitable treatment by the judicial system, and an end to corruption.

I don't believe in reincarnation, but is it possible we could be seeing a reincarnation of Oswald Moseley,

Well, being a democratic socialist (Go Sanders!) not so happy with the book. What does surprise me, or perhaps not, is the change of tone concerning the illustrious PM. Not so long ago he was being lauded to the skies by people here. Perhaps things are not turning out so well?

I, like many others, was relieved when the farce that was the Yingluck "government" came to an end, and wildly optimistic in the very early days after Prayuth took over.

That optimism soon faded, along with Thailand's democracy, economy, freedoms, and international reputation.

Good to get it off your chest isn't it? We welcome you with open arms.

One has to wonder what goes on inside the mind of Prayuth. If he sees Communism as the best model of governance to aspire to then the people of Thailand are in for bad times. Perhaps he envies the degree and sophistication of Chinese corruption. Or maybe it's the rigid censorship that exists in China today. Regardless, Thailand is definitely going to digress and be left further behind in terms of development and individual freedom. Thaksin sold out his leadership to greed and corruption, but this guy is selling out the entire nation to the Chinese!

Communist ? In what way is China's governing fascist oligarchy communist?

."wildly optimistic in the very early days after Prayuth took over." ? I mean, how could anyone be" wildly optimistic" when a military junta dictatorship takes over the government of a nation ?!

Yeah well, he is in power now and he may recommend it, and it may be forced on people. But as history has proven, Thailand is likely to have another regime change at some point, a new "constitution", or whatever they call that piece of paper that they keep tossing out
