Statistics, mathematics and road fatalities

Featured Replies

Officially, 28 000 fatalities on Thai roads yearly That's 76 per day.(It's at least that of course)

Today we have Richard Barrow: Richard Barrow in Thailand

Day 3 of road accidents statistics are now out. On Day 3 of “7 Dangerous Days of ‪#‎Songkran‬”: 65 dead & 796 injured in 754 reported road accidents. 39.79% of accidents involved drunk drivers. 83.12% of accidents were motorcycles. I will update my blog shortly with full stats. (Pic @reporter_Itsara)

We get Khaosod English and Bangkok post stating

116 people were killed and 981 injured in 907 road accidents on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation on Wednesday morning. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1460532933

I'm sure I saw a different figure somewhere. We get this every year and Thaivisa members are always pretty quick to jump in criticising Thai driving.

It's the same every year. There are fewer fatalities than average during Songkran than there are during any typical week of the year. coffee1.gif
