BANGKOK:-- The Thai man who drove his Mercedes Benz into the car of two undergraduate students killing them both has ordained into the monkhood.

Janepop Jiraporn, 37, heir to the Lenso Group fortune, entered the temple Wat Khae Nang Lerng in Bangkok where he will remain for two days before completing another thirteen days at a forest temple in Nakorn Rachasima in Thailand's north east, reports Daily News.

His father Jetsada was present as was his mother but there were only a handful of other close family members in attendance.

None of the relatives of the dead students came to the ceremony even though they were invited. Janepop's family said they understood their decision not to attend.

Janepop's uncle Charoen Kaewyortla said that his nephew had made the decision to ordain after the accident as he had wanted to show his remorse for and make merit for the two people who had died in the tragedy.

He had not ordained sooner as he himself was injured and was waiting to recover from his injuries. Now he had recovered he wanted to follow up on his promise.

So odd that these ordinations of those accused of a crime always seem to get media coverage. They are meant to be private initiations. Yes, we all know how and why it happens this way.

In any event, he should be under house arrest or in prison awaiting trial.

Why an I not surprised at this?

The only one taht seems to be missing so far is "Boss" from the Red Bull empire and he may not even be in the country.

Do they really believe that people will say "But he has joined the temple so we must forgive him".

If it was my son or daughter he had killed I would hope that he would burn in hell for eternity.

the publicity lets other hi-so's know what they can get away with

Is the monkhood route a magical get out of jail card? Monkhood and envelopes seem to help keep folks out of the gray bar hotel.

makes one wonder how many monks have checkered pasts

15 days are not enough "atonement" to account for two lives taken prematurely through ignorant and "I am above the law" behavior.

Book him right after he's left the forest temple. He'll have plenty of time to grow back his hair and eye brows while he can show further remorse in a prison cell.

I am glad the families of the deceased showed some back bone and did not attend this so-called ordination.

I would have attended if it was one of my kids and you would have seen plenty of real backbone - what would be interesting as to how the peaceloving monks would have handled a complete rout of this pathetic excuse of a ceremony.

............he had wanted to show his remorse.................

I wonder if he would have been so remorseful if he hadn't been caught?

Sick, even the monks in the background look embarrassed.

They shouldn't be embarrassed, they should be saying NO to this bullsh1t loud and clear

nothing but a show for imbeciles

with rich reward for the protagonist

do the real monks have no intelligence and no pride to take part in this farce?

(may be big big BIG donation?)

this is how you realize that budhism here is just a sad joke.

If i remember the real killer of David and Hannah did also spend some time in the monkhood after his murder.... completely disgusting!

So, 15 days to show "remorse", and a couple of fat envelopes from his father to the families to the kids, and all will be forgiven.

Normally there should be a coroner with the job not to forgive what cannot be forgiven

Well perhaps all is not as he wished, thank <deleted>
