Online Postal Vote Applications

You are not required to attend the Embassy to lodge a postal vote.

If you are unable to vote in person and wish to apply for a postal vote, you will need to access the online postal vote application (http://www.aec.gov.au/election/pva/) between now and 29 June 2016. Lodging a postal vote will also avoid queues and delays which may be experienced during in-person voting at the embassy.

Alternatively, you may notify the AEC that you are overseas by using the following link to the AEC website: http://www.aec.gov.au/enrol/. Further information about voting in the election can also be found on the Smartraveller website (http://smartraveller.gov.au/bulletins/federal_election_2016/).

ok so its basically to late to vote via the post due to the postal vote needs to be sent to the AEC by the 29/06

so either bangkok or fill a form to say you are overseas to avoid a fine

Yes, I would think it is much too late now to expect the Thai postal system to process mail before the election.

This election has had one of the longest lead up periods in a long time. If you knew you were going to be in Thailand and still wanted to vote, you really should have done something about it long before this.

If you are just worried about being fined, you will probably be excused because you were out of the country.

If very worried you could always download the postal vote form and send it in, even though there is no chance of a ballot paper reaching you in time, and explain you did try to vote.
