They'll be even more boring to watch now, the Old Arsenal of the 00's & 10's, would have been cheaper to employ George Graham too i bet... :D

If he doesn't hit the ground running I'm sure he will be there until Xmas, if he isn't doing as well as thought we will just give Franco and Stevie a bell to come back

home and show the players how to play beautiful football that they have obviously been doing over at Upton Park! haha :)

Aha but that's where you're wrong Mr S, you know as well as i do that Uncle Roman is getting more than a bit frustrated that his little Toy can't be top Dog in Europe & no Chelsea Legend or best number 2 they've ever had are gonna help that & if they fail, which they will because they're nowhere near the level that HE wants Chelsea to be at, you won't have hardly any <deleted> Legends left at your 2 Bob plastic Empire... :D

Get out the Pimms & the Prawn Sarnies Seapok & enjoy the Summer.. :D

Stamford Bridge is falling down, poor old Chelsea... :D

Spoken like someone who hasn't actually watched West Ham. I was one of those who resented Zola, being a loyal Curb's man and all, but I have to admit - as do all the other West Ham supporters - that some of the stuff I saw West Ham play last season was the same as that which we were weaned on and gave us the label of "the aristocrats of football".

No Barca admittedly, and a long way to go in different times to those under Ron Greenwood, Lyall and even Harry - but at least Zola is trying, and producing to an extent. And no doubt he'll repay the opportunity and patience he's been given at UP. Anything but the crudity and thuggery that is Chelsea anyway. :D

....and once Gianfranco has served his apprenticeship at our feeder club we look forward to seeing back at the Bridge :D

Why woul a Chelsea Fan have a Man City Song as his User Name ?? :)

A convergence, two of a kind nowadays. Which is a little surprising, as I always thought that Citeh at least had a youth academy and didn't really need to buy success. Can't really see that they're going to attract tourists the same way as Chelsea do though.

Deco seeks Blues exit

Chelsea midfielder Deco has declared he plans to leave Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian-born midfielder joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer and after a bright start to life with the Blues he has been reduced to the periphery at the club following the sacking of coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Deco has now made no bones about his wish to quit Chelsea after becoming disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge.

"I have a contract with Chelsea, but there are offers from other clubs," he said. "I want to feel fine, and that is not happening at Chelsea.

"I want to find a club that can bring the joy of playing football back for me."

Deco has been linked with a summer switch to Inter Milan, and the Portugal international has indicated he would welcome a reunion with Jose Mourinho, with whom he enjoyed success at Porto.

The former Barcelona ace noted: "Of course I would like to work again under Mourinho, he is a guarantee of success. He is a great coach, perhaps the best one of my career.

"I have a contract, I know the two clubs have been in talks. Anyway, I have to respect and wait.

"I do not want to stay, I have said that. I have not liked my experience at Chelsea."

Chelsea have matched Liverpool's bid for England star Glen Johnson.

Portsmouth accepted a £17.5million bid from Liverpool earlier this week and the 24-year-old looked set to seal a move to Anfield.

However, Pompey chief Peter Storrie has confirmed the club have also now agreed terms with Chelsea - Johnson's former club.

The in-demand full-back now has a decision to make, with both sides keen to tie up a deal this week.

"The matter will come to a conclusion at the beginning of next week. I do not have a preference over the move, it is up to Glen," Storrie said.

"The deals are almost identical so it really is down to him and what club he prefers, which one is going to pay him more money.

"Glen wants to play regularly in the Champions League, he has got himself back in the England side so I understand that. Sometimes you have to be fair to players."

Storrie admits that Johnson needs to be playing Champions League football next season in order to secure his place in Fabio Capello's starting XI - with the World Cup finals now less than 12 months away.

"It's a big year for him with the World Cup coming up," he continued.

"Playing Champions League football will make him an even better player than he is today."

Don't you just love Chelsea ^^ ??

Buy a really good Prospect, English too, for 6m..

Ruin his confidence, then sell him for 4m..

Few Years later after he's regained his confidence that they ruined & became an established England International, attempt to buy him back for 17m..

What a Club, their Supporters must be so proud to support a Club like that...

^^ Irregardless of the circumstances, i'm usually completely against players returning to old clubs (with the possible exception of players in the twilight of their careers returning to the their boyhood club for sentimental reasons).

I just don't think it works - and this move certainly looks a daft one - for both club and player!

Striker Sturridge off to Chelsea

Chelsea are to sign teenage striker Daniel Sturridge from big-spending Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The fee for the 19-year-old will be decided by a tribunal with the two clubs unable to agree on a deal.

Sturridge will be out of contract at the end of June and has refused a new contract offer at Eastlands.

However, Chelsea will be liable to pay a fee as the player is under the age of 24 and therefore can not move for nothing under the Bosman ruling.

City boss Mark Hughes had been keen to keep Sturridge but would not meet what he believed to be excessive wage demands.

Hughes earlier told BBC Radio Manchester: "We have made an offer which is a good offer for Daniel at this stage of his career and that was refused a couple of weeks back."

The England Under-20 international has scored six goals from 12 starts and 19 substitute appearances for City.

City are looking to get a 'development fee' of around £10m for Sturridge, although Chelsea's valuation is thought to be somewhat lower at an estimated £3m.

Great News, another English Career ruined in the blink of an eye, what a greedy fcuker Sturridge obviously is... :)

A bit harsh Singer, with all the strikers on City's shopping list, don't blame him for wanting to look elsewhere. Besides, Drogba and Anelka are not exactly spring chickens.

he's got about as much chance of playing at chelsea as he had at city. and if he's good enough then he'll make the breakthrough.

Does that include shin pads and jock straps ? Didnt know you were a Dr. He was advised by his specialist to continue wearing protection according to a chat show on Chelsea's own TV channel.

this boils down to the fact that Mr Hathead was given the responsibility of positioning of defenders on free kicks, then Chelsea started conceding from them. Big Phil critisized him live on TV one night and there she blows..

Oooooooh must be true then if it was on CTV... :)

I doubt if you'd need a Specialist to advise you to continue wearing something when it's worth 3.5m a Year but everyone's different i suppose & no i'm not a Doctor, but i'm not naive either.. :D

Petr Cech Head Gear

Cech needed emergency surgery after a collision with Stephen Hunt back in 2006, following which he was advised to wear a protective helmet, something which is now synonymous with the player. When playing for Chelsea, Cech is seen in an Adidas branded helmet, whilst playing for his country Cech’s head gear is unbranded due to contractual reasons.

The specialist has told Cech to wear protective headgear (fact). He did have emergency surgery (fact) He doesn't get 3.5 m for wearing it, its only part of a sponsorship deal for apparel etc which all players have (fact). Why twist the truth for your own paranoic assertions that he doesnt need headgear. Anyone who had an ounce of commonsense would do exactly the same and follow medical advice. While goalkeepers are protected more these days it still doesnt stop you getting the occasional kick in the head.

Chelsea agree Zhirkov deal

Chelsea have reached an agreement with CSKA Moscow to sign Russian wing-back Yuri Zhirkov.

The left-sided player, who shot to prominence with his performances at Euro 2008, has long been linked with a move to one of Europe's top clubs.

Barcelona were understood to be interested earlier in the summer before Chelsea emerged as the front-runners for his signature.

He flew in to London over the weekend, later stating that it would be 'inexcusable' for him to let such an opportunity pass.

New manager Carlo Ancelotti has now confirmed the switch will go ahead, with the 25-year-old set to become Chelsea's third signing of the window.

Speaking at his first press conference, Ancelotti said: "Zhirkov, Sturridge - these are Chelsea players.

"Zhirkov is naturally on the left. I think he can do all the work and can play in defence and in between."

Chelsea later clarified that the deal had not quite been finalised, with Zhirkov still needing to pass his medical and agree personal terms.

Daniel Sturridge joined the Blues from Manchester City last week, while young goalkeeper Ross Turnbull also arrived from Middlesbrough.

Lampard backing Ancelotti

Frank Lampard believes new Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will have no problems emerging from the shadow of Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho enjoyed unparalleled success at Stamford Bridge in winning back-to-back Premier League titles after ending Chelsea's 50-year wait to be crowned champions.

The Portuguese tactician also won the FA Cup and two League Cups during his time in England, although the UEFA Champions League trophy remained elusive.

Ancelotti comes to Chelsea with an impressive CV and Lampard believes that, if the Italian can win the league or Champions League title, then he can emerge from Mourinho's shadow.

"Jose was the man in charge during what was an amazing period in Chelsea's history and maybe only now we fully realise what a special time it was," said Lampard.

"We hadn't won the league for 50 years. We had a team of very good individuals but we didn't win things.

"He added some players but the most important thing was the confidence he instilled in us as a team.

"It was that little bit of magic which rubbed off on the whole club. We all felt a lot stronger when he came in and we achieved together three years of success that is unequalled at Chelsea.

"But I don't think Ancelotti will have any issue with stepping out of Mourinho's shadow whatsoever. Ancelotti has come to us having won the Champions League twice, and the Italian league.

"He's worked at the highest level and is respected as being one of the top coaches in the world. I don't think it's fair to say he has anyone else's reputation to concern himself about.

"If we can win the Premier League or the Champions League this year he'll have been a success in his own right and no one will be asking that question."

Blues reaffirm Terry stance

Carlo Ancelotti has again stressed that Manchester City target John Terry will be Chelsea's captain for many years.

City have failed with two offers for the defender and have yet to end their interest in prising Terry away from their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea have repeatedly insisted that Terry is not for sale, although the England skipper has yet to comment on his future.

Ancelotti revealed earlier this week that he expected the matter to be resolved in the coming days as the Blues look to fend off interest from City.

And, speaking ahead of Friday's friendly with his former club AC Milan, Ancelotti reiterated that Terry would not be leaving Stamford Bridge.

"John Terry, I repeat, is the captain of this team and he will be the symbol of this club and this team for many years," said Ancelotti.

"It's not been a problem in these last few days. He will be the captain of Chelsea in the future."

Meanwhile, Ancelotti is refusing to rule out a raid on his old club Milan to sign midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who is likely to line up against Chelsea on Friday night.

He added: "Pirlo, I think will be with Milan (on Friday), but no one knows for the future."
