BANGKOK — A parade, the long weekend and weather could make drivers want to put a bag over Bangkok’s already ugly roads Thursday.

Even police admitted traffic will not be pleasant tomorrow when the Pride of Thailand, aka Leicester City FC, parades in a loop running from the Victory Monument area past Bangkok’s other proud monuments of MBK Center, Siam Paragon and CentralWorld.

Are those soccerboys not tired of being exposed as a trophy? This is what you get if your local soccerteam is sold to an Asian investor, no big beerparty in Leicester but posing for the smartphones of millions of Thai in traffic jam. wai2.gifwai2.gif

Did they get a fast course how to wai properly?wai2.gifwai2.gif

I honestly could not live in Bangkok without going totally insane. Every time I go there I either get so stressed out with the sheet dirtiness and volume of traffic, or I become ill in some way. I avoid it like the plague. Furthermore, Hua Hin has started to have a problem with traffic and the volume of road users in specific areas, especially on holidays when half of Bangkok come this way.

Why on earth Little Leicester City Hav to parade around Bangkok just coz the owner is a Thai millionaire, Crazy. They will be forgotten next year when fighting for premiership status.

So what? Look what they've done this season. Absolutely incredible. They had a massive beer party in Leicester already. You can google the pictures. Who are you? The fan of a 'franchise' owned by some fat cat capitalist who really understands your proud history and your affinity to your local team?

Now Aston Villa have been sold to the Chinese, maybe they will do a Leicester in two years time and have to go to Beijing for the mandatory bus ride!.

Get your bet on now!!

Well the sour grapes do show.

They won the English Premier league, the most supported football league in the world, from 5000-1 outsiders; at a time when the mega wealthy star clubs, with their very expensive players and opulence couldn't. When was the last time Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and the like last won? A massive achievement which was accomplished following their take over by a wealthy Thai billionaire businessman who has guided them to their highest ever achievement and won that has won acclaim in many countries around the world.

But, hey, maybe your team will win something one day. Then you won't feel like pissing on the parade.

My team has already won something, though not at odds of 5000-1.

The first British team to win the European Cup.

I recall traffic being far worse in the late 90s.

Same could be said of Pattaya. In (the distant) past during the low season it was pleasantly ghost-town like. Now the traffic is Bangkok-like year round. But then in past if you wanted to shop for anything beyond the most basic things, it meant a trip to Bangkok. Something of a zero-sum game with the pluses and minuses.

What on earth are you talking about? There was a huge party in Leicester- thousands of people showed up, open topped bus, the works. I get that you want to be bitter about something, but I'd engage the brain next time before spewing nonsense out via the keyboard.

I'm not a Leicester supporter, but am very pleased for them.

The winning of the premier league is, in itself remarkable. However, it's where they came from that I find incredible. Last season they were 'rock bottom' of the Premiership and you might well have got another 5000-1 on them staying up, so far adrift were they. Then they won a stack of there last dozen games to escape relegation. That. to me, was almost as incredible as winning the title the next season.

I'm pretty sure most of the players would not wish to travel half way around the world at this time. But that's commercialism.

The beauty of living in BKK is that I rarely ever have to get into traffic, unless I'm leaving town or coming back. Then, it truly sucks because my time off is everyone's time off.

Daily needs are met within a short walk of home, virtually all shopping can be done by MRT or BTS, which also take me to the parks. And a cheap motosai taxi takes me to the BTS or MRT in 2 minutes or less from home. All the local motosai guys know me, and a lot of them offer me a free ride if they see me walking (probably knowing I'd never accept a freebee).

When was the last time the UK was in a final in a world championship? Exactly, that's how sad it is. Without (foreign) money and players nobody would even watch English soccer.

Soccer has become a toy for the rich boys and is only about money these days. Oh and Americans just don't understand the whole game which is fine.
