CHIANG RAI: Region five police acting on a tip off intercepted a Hmong tribesman with 240,000 Ya Ba pills hidden in a pick-up.

A roadblock had been set up on the Ban Wiang Nua road in Wiang Chai, Chiang Rai Thursday. When the driver saw what was happening he revved and tried to escape but ended up in the ditch by the side of the road and was arrested.

Nineteen year old Chanchai Sae-tor said that he was being paid 50,000 baht to take the drugs to a hillside location in Chiang Rai. Writing on the packages of drugs indicated they were destined for Kamphaeng Phet, Ayuthaya and Bangkok.

The drugs are believed to have been produced at a factory in a neighboring country. The drugs had a street value n Thailand of 25 million baht.

Chanchai was detained as efforts are underway to expand the enquiry to others involved.

Right ,but 1zgarz5.gif thai police don't want to arrest him ,so they arrest the mule, the smuggler

Wonder what the "frequency" of this kind of delivery is?

One truck, 3 destinations, and then cargo split and delivered further on?

This kind of money means top protection. If I can buy my way out of a traffic ticket for 300 baht.

Driver will spent 10 to 20 years in prison...but may not make it through the first month.
