Head Light Ballast Not working Advice Please

Hi All, it would appear that the headlight ballast on my RX8 is not working, the bulb is ok.

The ballast and light are assembled as a unit, so as to remove it you would either need to cut the silver co ax type electrical connection, or cut away part of the head light assembly. Advise please.

I see advertised after market ballast units, not Mazda, can these be a substitute for the original, can they be connected into the original unit in some way.

Advise would be gratefully received.

I have now ordered a new headlight ballast control from ali express for 70usd inc post, the cost of a complete second hand headlight with a 7 day Thai guarantee would be 5000 Thai Baht,or an after market ballast set up 2800 Thai baht so I will see how we go from here.

New ballast arrived by China Post, air mail, took around 5 days from the initial order being placed, also 2 new bulbs at 600 baht each, original Osram.

Now installed in the car, every thing now working ok.
