I went to the lovely Rot Fai Park behind Jatujak this morning. I found all the lakes and khlongs had become black and stinking. Can anyone shed any light on this?

start cleaning it by yourself....the thais won't do it...not in a hundred years.

sad to say but sadly true...

read bkk post how nice the park is, sounds like you know more of the real status, thanks for that.

That is not fair, I have visited the park frequently and often seen the ponds and lakes being cleaned out by what I assume is staff there, and indeed Thais.

If the water is going bad it might be because of other factors, but not because of poor care. Anyone with experience of caring for a pond or even an aquarium, knows that once you have rot, it can easy spread out of control, and there is not much one can do about it.

The park is lovely and have many great spots for a good day outing. I am sure the situation will improve.

it will only improve if those responsible for it (I assume some Thai authority) cleans it. A new concept in this part of the world I know, but prevenative maintenence is in most cases much cheaper than fixing things after they break.
