Kabula Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Now thats what I'm talking about! Can't wait! I wonder if Ben and Jerry will be returning to America? Grin...
klauskunkel Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Nothing beats Moevenpick's Green Apple and Walnut! Nothing!
AgMech Cowboy Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I have got to admit that I hope they open an outlet at Fashion Island soon (and that the prices are fair).
Bob12345 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Wonder if the same will happen as when Krisky Kreme opened: people standing in line early morning to buy a large amount and then sell it for a markup to people who don't have 2 hours to stand in line. That lasted a few weeks at least.
razer Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 The great thing about "Thai Fever" is a small business can break even in the first year.
razer Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I remember when doing some training in Vermont. The original Ben & Jerry's s ice cream shops gave away a free scoop of ice cream for an entire day every year. And ... there was no madness or long lines. It was very civilized. That's Vermont.
atyclb Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 haagen daaz and baskin are very overpriced in thailand. even swensons is pricy. i prefer some of the local made gelato. tastes good and fair price.
Rayk Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Ice cream shop opens , this is really news ? It will be when the Thais are beating each other senseless queueing up in the line as they sort of did with that Japanese ice cream.
sgtsabai Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I've never had the pleasure of Ben and Jerry's, Blue Bell would be hard to beat. Given the chance, I'll give their franchise some business, after all Ben and Jerry supported the only decent person in the race for president, Bernie Sanders.
connda Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Some people would line up for the opening of a phone booth.
Ulic Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I have stopped by the Burlington VT. shop location many times and the factory as well. I loved every visit. Best of luck to them here.
fusion58 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Brilliant! ?? I've been jonesing for some Cherry Garcia for some time now.
Changwatchap Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Thais love queuing for 2 things: Sales and giveaways Trendy new junk food (krispy Keene, garrets popcorn). This ticks both boxes, so expect Siam paragon to be HELL the week this opens.
ozyjon Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Do you know what ingredient stops ice cream from melting,,, pig fat,,, and you love it,,,, yummy.
coops Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 d@mn right pork fat is yummy... get the Kakuni Ramen at Bankara and try to deny it.
smutcakes Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 haagen daaz and baskin are very overpriced in thailand. even swensons is pricy. i prefer some of the local made gelato. tastes good and fair price. HD and Baskins are expensive, but i have always thought Swensons was pretty damn good value, cheap even.
Jingthing Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Ben and Jerry's have an excellent product and indeed fantastically inventive flavors and flavor names. Of course people that don't speak English won't get the puns in the flavor names. Oddly the brand is also associated with American leftist politics. I wouldn't call ice cream junk food. I'd call it delicious food for an occasional treat.
sgtsabai Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope the brand is associated with what should be called centrist politics, nothing leftist about them or Bernie. I'll buy a gallon if I get the chance.
Jingthing Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope the brand is associated with what should be called centrist politics, nothing leftist about them or Bernie. I'll buy a gallon if I get the chance. Fair enough. Leftist by American standards which isn't the same thing as leftist by European standards. In any case, it's great ice cream. I avoid ice cream these days but if you don't, their brand is a great choice.
The Big Mango Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 But this is just another generic brand mass produced by Unilever. The principles of the original owners still stand true ? Guess the ice creams the same recipe ?
anotheruser Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Ice cream shop opens , this is really news ? Yes. When a large American chain enters a market it is news.
The Big Mango Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 The power of branding at its finest then again. Its owned by an Anglo-Dutch company and has been for a long long time. ( since they sold out ) But hey , who cares

The Big Mango Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 ^^ never mentioned that , I replied to the post stating its a large American chain , which that it is not.

For a guy that seems annoyed this is news you seem to know a lot about them.
