Yes, I have used them to determine levels for earth fill on new property.
The detector was unbranded but it was bought from Fashion Sky Co. Ltd store. The model number is  GFD5GFH.
There are many detector options on Ali Express. 
There was a similar detector on Lazada Thailand but its price was around 7,000 baht.

Yeah, I bought that level detector on Lazada. There wasn't much info about it, but it only works with the matching laser transmitter. As I found out. [emoji21]

Well I am kind of a perfectionist and for me everything must be level or plumb or both. I want one to check the work of others because after the concrete is dry is not the time to discover it's off center or not plumb. Plus I plan to make many brick/block planters around the pool and this beats a string level due to the large area. Thanks for all the comments. By the way, how accurate does the specs say about your device? I found one accurate to .5m over 500m distance which doesn't sound too accurate.

I have been looking on Alibaba for laser levels and found some cheap ones there with an accuracy of (+) or (-) 50 cm over a run of 650 meters.  That does not sound too accurate to me , although none of my distances are 650 meters.  The longest is the property line at 75 meters so without any other specs over shorter distances, I calculate this to mean a (+) or (-) of 5.76 cm over the run of 75 meters.  I guess that is not so bad after all.
