Defense Min signs deal with NACC to prevent corruption

BANGKOK, 14 June 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Defense is joining hands with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to prevent and eradicate corruption within all units under the ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan hosted the signing of a cooperation agreement between his ministry and the NACC to implement an anti-corruption project. In compliance with the policy of the government and the National Council for Peace and Order, Gen Prawit affirmed the Defense Ministry has been striving to ensure that budget spending and other operations of all agencies under its command are free of corruption and are carried out for the good of the public.

Meanwhile, NACC Chairman Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit noted that the Defense Ministry requires a large budget as it has the responsibility of overseeing security forces as well as procuring military equipment for the protection of the country.

Therefore, he said the prevention and suppression of corrupt practices in the ministry is considered a national agenda while the absence of corruption will also help foster a sense of pride in security personnel.

Right the defence dept working on anti corruption. Wasn't it the military who arrested students who tried to expose military corruption? I guess if you work to cover up corruption then there is nothing to see and it never happened.

We don't have enough in the budget so let's take on another role and get an increase, my sons new lamborghini is waiting for collection.

Maybe the military could start by actually paying conscripts and not having their salary siphoned off into senior officers' accounts.

And stop running the pay off scam for conscripts who don't want to join.

I won't mention military hardware procurement and maintenance budgets.

Although I do miss the continuing misadventures of the blimp that died.

I can not understand why they need a MOU. This is like saying we will not do it again.

It's great to read such headlines and know that the Authorities, despite all the flak so unjustly thrown at them, do in fact display a magnificent, unimpaired sense of humour, bringing political satire to hitherto undreamt-of heights. There is a rumour (which is swiftly gaining ground) that the present administrators here were the behind-the-scenes consultants on the Monty Python TV shows and the Carry On films. They clearly have not lost their touch in the slightest!

Form a committee, draft/sign an agreement. Reforms complete.

Next?

It does seem like they are acknowledging that corruption exists in the MoD, and perhaps the services, and they say that acknowledging the problem is the first step towards recovery, so who knows. 5-5-5 just kidding.

Even the PAD call the NACC a junta agency. What more can you add. Laughably say when the NACC chair is appointed by the NCPO.

I gave U a like Eligius , however, the use of the late Sydney James or Mr John Cleese, in the same sentence as the Thai Military portrays a certain incompatibility cheesy.gif .

The Thai Defence Minister has finally admitted that corruption does exist in the Military and signs a deal with the NACC to prevent it , firstly Gentlemen on a note of good governance, the military shouldn't be corrupt , secondly you would be the only military in recent history to sign a memorandum of understanding that you are corrupt , miracles have been know to happen, however the parting of the waters has already been done, life has its ups and downs don't it.................................................................cheesy.gif . .
