Try a Gewurztraminer first.

You do have that in your first aid kit, don't you?

It might.

Ages ago, my granddad went to the doctor, complaining about some general weakness or something. Herr doctor recommended him to radically alter his diet and become a vegetarian. Gramps informed him that he's been an ardent vegetarian for the last 20 years or so, to which the unfazed medical practitioner answered - "so better start eating meat!". Guess it was some system shock approach.

Try a vegan diet of bird's eye chill's for four weeks.  At the end you will have destroyed whats left of your taste buds and nam prik will taste like port or whatever else you want it to taste like!

Do you have a good recipe to share?

Only if you can prove affiliation to the "mother land" and even then I'm still not sure I would retain my Cornish passport if I divulged the secret ?

just saw this recipe today:

http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/perfect-chicken-balti/

maybe not convenient for those that have no access to the indicated spices, cardamon, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, etc...I had brought these back with me almost a year ago from saudi, now almost past their sell by date...makro has got most of the stuff, good to check out as when you got the stuff at hand it broadens yer horizon significantly...

today reverted back to moong dahl and chapattis...I had forgotten how good they taste...chicken balti comin' up...

anybody remember 20 years ago when indian balti was the latest UK food fad? balti houses springing up all over the place, especially in Birmingham...

The spices essentially last a lifetime but will lose their potency. Even then, when kept in a suitable fashion, 7 years should not be an issue.

Aye Tutsi, I remember. To a large extent they have gone as a speciality curry-house but most restaurants still offer them as part of a wider menu. Not as good.

Rusholme, Manchester, the 'curry mile'. Used to travel 20k there after the pubs shut, just for the food. Miss that.

I'm from inbetween Leeds and Bradford so Indian food was a staple !
It was a standing joke that when you were away from home for a while you would ring up and say:
" can't wait to get back home to some Yorkshire cooking "
and the answer as always was:
" how many chapattis will you want with that " ? [emoji3]

But the best Indian I had recently, was a couple of years ago just outside Brisbane, called The British Balti ( or something like that ) run by people from the UK, Indians of course !!

I've always seen plenty of cukes around but never seen any zucchini outside of western friendly supermarkets...where did ye get yours? grown locally?

the big cukes are good with homade natural yogurt in a tzatziki, easy to make and good to have on hand in the fridge...just got sum today...

there's soooo much stuff that y'can make with zucchini (courgettes), excellent in stir fries, zucchini bread, etc...a very versatile veg...

ASDA brand pre-made pizza dough (

Where do you buy the pr-made pizza dough?  I know that you live in Samui, where life's a beach, with abundant farang food available.  I live in the boonies now with the closest Tesco 50 kilometers, Big C and Makro 100 kilometers away.
