Korean on 'economy' Thai trip caught shoplifting bacon and cheese

CHIANG MAI: -- A South Korean man who told police that he was visiting Thailand on a strict budget was caught stealing a pile of bacon and cheese for his dinner in a Chiang Mai Big C.

Store detectives at the Don Jan branch were on the lookout via CCTV after a spate of thefts, reported Manager Online. They saw Namduck Kim loading up his backpack and stopped him at the cashier.

Police were called and thirteen packets of bacon and cheese worth 2,128 baht were taken into evidence. Kim told cops that he had arrived in Thailand on May 12th and was trying to live economically.

The theft was a spur of the moment thing, he said. He will be charged with theft.
