Latest drugs busts - 300,000 Ya Ba pills seized in Chiang Mai, but gang escapes

CHIANG MAI: Some 300,000 Ya Ba tablets were seized in Chiang Mai on Saturday but the gang delivering the load escaped.

Police had been on the trail of several men in a Toyota Vigo after a tip off of a delivery to an agent. They lay in wait and saw the men hurl the package containing the drugs out into the undergrowth on the Fang to Chaiprakarn road. The men managed to escape.

Meanwhile down south in Nakorn Sri Thammarat in the Tha Sala area police arrested a total of six people for drugs offences and paraded them for the press.

They had apprehended a 36 year old man and a 28 year old woman with 85 ya ba and 8 grams of ice meth amphetamine and also found an account book with the names of several other people. They expanded the enquiry and rounded up two more men with ya ba and ice and a man and a woman with two kilos of compressed marijuana.

All the suspects were detained and sent for prosecution.

Hard to imagine how one can "escape" on the road between Fang and Chaiprakan unless the driver had close connections to a certain coffee shop north of Fang.

The are trails are  controlled by the 'tahann paan'/  aka 'black shirts'.  Water buffalo with anthrax selling cheap.....maybe other things. The trails are for hire. don't think this is new. Nothing passes free.
