I notice the connection reset problem with 3BB when I am at our nieces house and her provider is 3BB. At home (with TOT) I have never (knock on wood ;) ) seen that error..

Edit: Have a read here:

  • Totally unusable. Almost impossible to connect.   Don't know why you did not leave things alone. these downgrades never go well. Never have done.

  • Just gonna quote this for posterity in case she sobers up and has a quick edit.

  • That's one of the most hilariously self-important things I've ever seen.   At least wait until the update is finished before you rage quit.

How very odd. We need some specialist brains on this one!

It never loads. You try it.

I can't work out why removing the "do=find" parameters from the link should make it work on one ISP and not another.

Those parameters are like a command to the forum software to make it go search for a post and report back. I wonder if there is some delay, or link that gets lost, that makes my ISP think that the job is done, and doesn't wait for a response from the TV server?

Come on @Tech Doctor, get on this case!

@JetsetBkk I just tried both of those links in Chrome browser, Win 10. Both load correctly with the longer of the 2 links scrolled slightly down screen to show the comment from Ubonjoe that followed.

As for the ISP-related question, I'm in UK. Not sure if that helps, but it's what i see and would appear to be correct.

Using a Mac. 50/10 3BB.

Pages often take ages to load or just hang. The search facility is nowhere near as good as it used to be. More often than not it shows no results.

1- The 3BB problem is a known issue

2- Just use this Google search query to search the Thaivisa site.

site:thaivisa.com/forum "Your query"

It took a staggering 30 mins for me to post a link in a page that I keep a regular eye on today & I have given up altogether in trying to add to high profile thread in my home area as I frankly cannot get anywhere near it...again!

Please sort this shambles out or kick me off and shut my a/c.

On AIS Fibre 50/10....TVF has been slow all day...even yesterday it was struggling at times.

@Tech Doctor I don't know if this helps at all but here in UK it has been very slow via Windows Chrome or Android Chrome since about NYE.

Suddenly, as i started to post this it has sped up.  Timed at 13:05 GMT or 20:05 Thailand

I do wonder as to the level of expertise of the technical experts involved in  what is  described as a ''forum upgrade.''

Indeed I do hope money has not changed hands for this ''upgrade.''

Link this ''upgrade'' situation to the current level of services(?) provided by the  local providers here and we indeed  have a  recipe for a cyber  disaster.

TVF seems to go from OK speed to slow speed from minute to minute.

I've given up trying to make the site work and I now have browser bookmarks for threads I want --  including this one ;)

My DT PC is working OK today regarding TVF..(fingers crossed)

Attached screen is now a regular occurrence usually after long wait

All other sites ok

The biggest problem is, if I recall correctly, that this is an upgrade of an upgrade of an upgrade....

In other words, the forum was not upgraded for years and now it is having all the upgrades applied. It's like upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows 10 - not easy.

Id say NT 3.0 to Windows 10 Anniversary update.

People having the timeout issue to thaivisa.com can you tell me if you get timeouts to tech.thaivisa.com too? They are on different IPs and infrastructure.

Somewhere early on in this thread, it was mentioned that in an ideal world, the entire site would have been rebuilt from the ground up and run in parallel with the old one for a time whilst the bugs are fixed. That is how software development should be done, but it costs an absolute fortune as almost all the hardware has to be duplicated and there are 2 sites to maintain. As we don't live in an ideal world that hasn't been done (I'm not bitchin' just observing!) From what I've read here @Tech Doctor is charged with coordinating the issues but I do wonder about the competence of some of the Developers he has at his disposal. I understand that these work for a 3rd party and that situation is nearly always fraught.

The reason I say this is because i was professionally involved in Software Development for many years, and, from the outside looking in, there seems to be all too much firefighting going on.TD- Been there mate!

For me, I was "professionally involved" from 1975-ish to 2002  biggrin.gif .  Our main customer had 6 very expensive networked computers, we had 14 - to duplicate or replicate issues, bug-fix and develop the systems. Not cheap  ohmy.gif .

I found tech.thaivisa to open typically in 7 to 10 seconds. After about 10 attempts, it timed out only once.

Hi,

We have a test site for minor patches and new plugins, but when the db is 38GB of posts its difficult to test all the functionality. Some we had to loose to gain others. Since we have moved to the latest version and keep on the latest version support has been much better, but then we get issues from other third parties. Yes I fire fight and help out where I can.

Ok, so how many timeouts does thaivisa.com get compared to tech.thaivisa.com, do you know how to do a tracert?

Another screen capture. The fastest loading link on tech.thaivisa is the Dating site - less than one second biggrin.gif ! The time reached 43s going from tech.thaivisa back to thaivisa, and 50s to go to news.thaivisa.

Question: why is there so much data being transferred from site to site? Isn't there any cacheing? The timings don't appear to be faster when clicking on the same link again and again.
