Seems a good spot to raise a problem I had in an internet cafe in BKK (and my Thai keyboard at home): how to type the £ sign (even on my ibook that's Shift 3, marked hash!) I typed GBP instead (and I know it should be UKP). Must be Alt something, something.

The supervisor did not know. He solved every other problem I had.

ALT+0163 on your numeric keypad.

If you're using a laptop, most laptops have a way of turning a section of the keyboard into a numeric keypad. Using the 0-9 at the top of the keyboard doesn't work for some reason.
