I'm waiting for it also.  This month I expect.  A couple of the models are now on the Asus website for pre-ordering (which is a strange concept/word, I think.)

For the Zenphone 3 Deluxe, it looks a very impressive machine, with great specifications and a classy look. It is getting to be a very crowded marketplace, with phones looking the same, but this is a stand out machine.

Same price as the Galaxy Note 4 and without stylus or removable battery.  The Zenphone 3 ultra seems a good deal with a big screen but still no stylus which is a deal killer for me.

Just got my hands on the "basic" one today, I'm really impressed!

Good:

Nice bright screen

More than speedy enough

3.5GB RAM

More than decent cameras (with some nice touches like full manual control)

system buttons have different function on long press (e.g. long press task switch for a screenshot)

ZenUI's not toooooo bad, though Google's launcher was the first thing I had to install

Bad:

Not a fan of the glass back, gonna scratch it way too easily, off to find a case tomorrow!

USB Type C... I know it's the future, but I have to be extra careful not to lose the cable :P

Speaker's a bit tinny

Anyway, after 2 months on a loaner Note 2 (gosh that thing is awfully slow), it's a breath of fresh air!

"basic" is Zenphone 3 Deluxe?

Do they still have as much Asus bloatware? I thought the Selfie i bought was a decent phone, just overloaded with Asus software. Still runs Andriod 5.02. 6.01 available for download and manual install, never could figure that out.

There are quite a lot of pre-installed Asus apps, yes, some are pretty good, some are completely useless. While you can't completely uninstall them, they can be disabled so they won't bother you...

Anyway, several days later, I'm still more than happy with it, battery life is another good point to add, quite impressive, at the end of a day of normal usage I usually have more than 50% battery left, and that's unusual for me :D

I actually got the "Marshall Special Edition" with a pair of nice headphones worth nearly 5k on their own, for 14,900... so not too bad, considering my last phone (LG G4) cost nearly twice that and barely lasted 3 months...

I got a zenfone 3 max ZC520 from Fortune Tower today at thb5990...ain't never used a smartphone before, I'm a nokia with a keypad kinda guy...

I bought an HTC wildfire on impulse when passing thru Schipol in 2010 and later put it down as the touch screen was too much hassle...it cost twice that for the zenfone that I bought today with twice the screen size and features...

I just figured that I gots t'get wid de programme...

I would greatly appreciate your initial thoughts and experiences about the Zenfone as that's the one I'm hanging my nose over.  I'm also a novice on smartphones.

well...yesee, I'm a novice as well and my observations won't be worth much...I saw the zenfone 3 max discussed on here and it looked to be reasonably priced so I went for it...I'm not into gaming but I needed the camera and MMS features to stay in communication with others locally so we'll see how it works out...I'm gonna need to have my stepdaughter who's hip to this stuff help me out...

it's less than 6k baht so you can't go wrong as a novice..I wouldn't wanna pay for an iphone or a galaxy 7 for the same purpose...

I just set it up to receive and make calls initially and I keep the wifi off to save battery (the zenfone 3 max is supposed to have good battery capacity)...you down load the owner's manual and then peruse at yer leisure to learn about the other features...I've always got my laptop on the go so I stay connected otherwise...
