Having a life when working in Lat krabang : possible ?

Featured Replies

Hi. I have been trying to crack a jigsaw for weeks, maybe one of you has a solution ?

I work in Lat Krabang industrial estate and getting there from Sukhumvit road (near on nut) where I live at the moment is just the ultimate nightmare (1h20 to go in the morning, 2 hours to come back in the evening!) : I need to move asap ! (the worse part is obviously the last 10km to lat krabang which easily take 45 minutes - it's ridiculous)

Houses rental is obviously much cheaper near the industrial estate but

- I don't have a car and there is just no life whatsoever around there (I'm not a hi-so clubber but really, there is not even a decent restaurant there)

- my wife works in Sathorn so we really need to be near one transportation way

We've been looking for some places near the airport link but there are not many things available neat the lat krabang side, and the Paya Thai - Makkasan side is kinda expensive

Any suggestion ?

Try the area where the Airport Link crosses Sri Nakharin.  I used to work there at it seemed to be a reasonable area with some nice restaurants and other signs of life.

Thanks guys. Nasa Vegas price look very reasonable but that's for a 25m2 room and it is actually a hotel from what I could see. I am looking for for something a bit more roomy (60+ m2) for my wife and I... Budget 12-20k

What is your current route?

Be aware that the airport Link is incredibly busy going into town in the morning (and vice-versa) so living in the Lat Krabang area may simply make your wife's commute the nightmare :(

Could be time to get a scooter.

Not many like bikes, but i can tell you going to one of my favorite fishing spots takes 2 hours in a car and 45 min on my bike. Its amazing how much of a difference in time.

Not much salt water around here (that is good to fish)  so i do freshwater fishing in stocked ponds .

If commuting is destroying your life, you may need to reach for radical solutions.

1. Either you or your wife changes your job.

2. Take a car and driver and work in the car on they way to Lat Krabang.

3. Buy a car and go on the motorway.

4. Work from home.

5. Change your work hours e.g. 4 days a week, 6 - 6, whatever.

Traffic in and around Bangkok is not going to improve.

I have lived in Lat Krabang for 2 years +. 1km from airport link.

Apartments are excellent at 6,000bht and have separate kitchen,

As it happens, I have just given notice to move at the end of this month and I have the best positioned

apartment in the building!

Its the apartment building at the Regent Hotel, Soi 22.

5 minutes walk to Paseo Mall and 10 minutes to marketland.

I have loved it here.

This house is literally on the airport link at Baan Thap Chang - http://www.property-bangkok.com/viewproperty.asp?id=498

Very nice, modern house in private estate but only 20 mins to Asoke on the airport line, so easy to get into the city. Price can negotiate.

I used to live in this estate, there's plenty of shopping around within 10mins drive (Seacon Square, Paradise Park, Mega Bangna, Paseo, Big C etc.)

I used to live there this is Lalin Green Ville, the station is Baan Thap Chang. The 4-beds are really overpriced and 60k is a joke for this,I was paying 35k for a 3 bed 3 bath of 240m2 but even this was overpriced.
If you look around you can find them for 20-25k for the same 3 beds but obviously at that price they rent fast so you have to move just as fast to secure one.

A quick Google and here's one for rent at 28k,it is a beautiful estate the nicest I've seen anywhere in Thailand and the security is second to none, with electronic gate passes for the train station and main entrance :

Here's a 4-bed still overpriced at 50k and this one has been up for rent for the last 5 years to my knowledge! :

Amazing to me how many people start a thread asking for advice/assistance and then appear to run away, not even having the decency to answer those who answer.

Not only this thread, many.

Soz for late reply, was following answers while continuing to look around following your advice. I finally found a 130m² house fully furnished in a nice and quiet moobaan close to Ban tap Chang and Paseo for 14K

Thank you all for the tips !

Is it at "Perfect Place" in the backside of Paseo?

Nope, other side of the road, about 800m from there direction on nut.

Perfect place looks nice too but there are miles between the entrance and the first houses, and I don't have a car. Also perfect place is more pricy

Try Airlink residence condo, Romklao 52/1.

It just 900 meters from Airport rail link station "Lad Krabang". For this area this is the best choice.
