Has anyone had any experience farming or starting a chicken farm with CP or Betagro?  Start up cost, process, utility cost, profits, etc?

I own 7 rai of property and want to start with two buildings comprising of about 30,000 chickens in each.  Would really like to get the head's up on this.

Thanks

Be careful, if your not Thai.. this is farming and if anyone wants to harm you your an easy target. (I pass no judgement over you just giving you a heads up)

You might also want to review recent news reports (which have been posted on forum) within the last week.

BANGKOK: — Fourteen Myanmar migrant farm workers today filed a lawsuit against Betagro Group and Thai officials, seeking Bt46 million compensation and civil damages for alleged abuses at a poultry farm in Lop Buri. The lawsuit was filed at Region 1 Labour Court, in Saraburi.

Yes, familiar with the report.  That's not going to affect Betagro one bit, or the poultry industry.

PLEASE, I'm not here for warnings or opinions.  I want to here from people who ARE doing it.  Problems and successes. Thank you.

You need to set up a company and register with the local amphur

25,000 chickens need a shed 180m x 15m

Build cost per shed approx THB 500k (if you do it yourself with local labour) each.

You'll need a borehole or biggish pond for water. 3'' borehole around THB 60k 1,000 litres per hour.

Equipment:

Drip water feeders

feed buckets on pulley system

small enclosures for housing chicks at start

gas heaters (for chicks)

water storage & pumps

feed store

trolley rail system (for shifting feed bags along the shed)

drainage system

ventilation system

secure biohazard entry/exit with changing room and wash area

SECURITY fence & CCTV

Running costs water, electric, gas, rice husk, labour. Cleaning. Labour, vets inspection

Gross profit around THB 4.0 per bird

Net profit around THB 1.0 per bird.

You should get 4 or 5 cycles per year with cleaning and rest periods in between.

start up around THB 2m

T/O THB400 - 500k pa

ROI approx 4-5 years.

Looked into this with wifey last year.

If you are young (ish) & fit (ish), have cash and labour you can trust, go for it.

Chicks & feed supplied

You will earn off the chicken shit

Dead birds go in the pond to feed catfish

7 rai sounds a bit small if you live on the plot.

We didnt like the thought of all the slaughter at the end of 45 days rearing, looked at rearing gai kai chicks but have ended up raising gai kai for eggs. Got 200 yielding around 150 eggs per day. Nice hobby with a small profit each month. Loads of chicken shit for 300 bananas we just put in, garden, etc but I digress.....
