Renewing license news

This is probably BS. I hope so.

I was watching Thai TV yesterday and my wife confirmed what I understood: from 2017 renewal of driving licenses will require 15 hours of class room presence. Did anyone else pick up on this? There is no doubt that that is what they said.

Please tell me it's not going to happen.

They can't keep up with demand as it is. I really do not believe this.

given the horrendous road toll in this country i think any pro - active step towards better driving education should be welcomed.

whether it's going to achieve anything remains to be seen.

proper driving instructions by a suitably qualified person would probably go a lot further...

Don't worry - as far as I understand from Thai sources (+ http://news.thaipbs.or.th/content/254823) and ( http://newdavich.in.th/2015/08/renew-drivinglicense5year/#.V-tOv5N940Q) renewing won't take 15hrs of class time. 15hrs counts for new licenses only. To renew, you just need to prepare money and required documents.
