Court orders BMA to demolish illegal parts of Aetas hotel in Ruamrudee

The Nation

THE Central Administrative Court issued an execution order Friday for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Pathumwan District Office to demolish illegal parts of the 24-storey luxury Aetas Bangkok hotel on Soi Ruamrudee.

It has been nearly two years since the Supreme Administrative Court ruled on October 30, 2014 for partial dismantling of the Aetas hotel and residences within 60 days after finding construction of the hotel violated the law.

The court recognised Pathumwan director had stopped construction and use of the building after the ruling, but also said its efforts were incomplete and in delay. It said officials had claimed they were waiting for an appeal by firms against the order and another lawsuit filed at the Administrative Court against the governor and district director but they could not argue with the Supreme Administrative Court ruling, as it was final and had concluded that the width of Ruamrudee was less than 10 metres.

This court ruling took a long time since the first objection . However it could never have been achieved by an ordinary citizen

only by well connected people willing to pay huge legal fees Justice is welcome none the less .

This crops up every few years, that they have to remove etc etc, and then it will disappear again.

Much like the red bull and other hi so dangerous driving death this year. They will crop up from time to time, lots of teeth gnashing and then just disappear again.

I suspect the only reason this hotel case has got as far as it has is due to the names and affiliation of thos supporting the action. I noted that no action would be taken against those who approved the building.

Always the low hanging fruit is cut down!

Someone gave approval for the building and yet "someone" is not charged! Why? Money? Connections? Corruption continues unabated as before (or as always)?

If the "interim" Government is not taking action to stamp out corruption then it is supporting it ipso facto?
