Korat Immigration

Looks like I'll be living near Pak Thong Chai by early next year. For the past 5-6 years I've been living in Pattaya and get an annual retirement extension in my UK passport, very straight forward as I'm in my 60s and have the 800,000THB kept in a Thai bank account.

So Korat Imm. How are they? Easy to deal with? No causing any headaches I hope? Would just like some feedback from expats living in Korat about what to expect when I roll up next July to renew my status for a further 12 months.

I just did my 90-day, 10 min's, two girls ahead of me, my TM card is 10's years old.

For the yearly renewal everything has been smooth here, if you have your papers

and have your other half with, to do the talking.

Thanks rice555 that's what I want to hear.

My other half (we're not legally married) is building a house on her land at Pak Thong Chai and when it's completed (around Feb 2017) we're be moving in and that will become my official address. So I believe my other half will have to go to Korat Imm and notify them that there's one of those dreadful foreigners residing at her address?

Korat Immigration is better than most. About the same as Pattaya only smaller as I use to live  in Pattaya. You will need to fill out a change of address form. I think it is a TM30 but do not hold me to this as it has been awhile since I moved.

Hi , I can only concur with the positive responses that you have received from your question.

if you are polite and show a modicum of respect ( not a**e kissing ) you will sail thru

as I have said many times and will undoubtedly continue to say it well into the future, the team atDan Kiwan Immifration are a credit to this country and would show many centres if officialdom back in the U.K. How it should be done properly

i just hope that this praise being heaped on those poor chaps does not go to their heads...

There are probably a lot of smaller Immigration offices dotted around where the service is good, they are not crowded and the staff are friendly.

In a way I feel sorry for the staff in the larger offices where there are many farangs but not so many staff. They must be overworked and if the farangs come in without all the proper stuff, a bad attitude, badly dressed etc I can see why the staff get annoyed.

For the retirement extension the paperwork is not that hard to get right and the 90 day report should be easy to do as well but if the offices are understaffed there will always be problems.

The office that I use at Nakhon Sawan is excellent with friendly and helpful front office ladies, most of whom speak fair to good English. What the new one at Khampaeng Phet (when it eventually opens)will be like I have no idea.
