The Dan Sai Kid Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I just saw the new CRV on TV. Man, is it ever ugly! It looks like the bonnet (hood for septics) is not shut properly!
Gary A Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 It's obviously different strokes for different folks. I think it looks far better than the looks of the Toyota and Isuzu hoods. They look like the hood of the ancient Volkswagen Beetle. Then there is the WORST looking pickup ever build. The Mitsubishi is the ugliest vehicle EVER built.

pal78 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 It's ugly on paper/screen. Very awkward looking, and it seems like Honda have been taking design lessons in Korea, but from the wrong Koreans (they should try and copy Hyundai if anyone). They've over done it on the design, too many lines, too many details. Like that hexagon thing on the back, what's that about? Some folks say it looks better in person, and the interior is nicer than the outgoing model. Maybe it'll look great in a few months, when they are actually rolling around Bangkok. I didn't like the old CR-V at first either, and now I think it's okay. I'm with Garry A regarding personal taste though, and also that the Triton is ugly.
Gary A Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Thanks for the photos Ray. The more I look at them the better I like the vehicle. It's just too bad it's not offered with a diesel engine.

Plus Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 It probably doesn't qualify as a pickup according to Thai refgulations. They need to develop a completely new vehicle platform for that, and then it would take ages to build a market share to justify the investment.

They wouldn't have to do much to pass Nissan, Mistubishsi, Ford or Mazda - in terms of popularity.
besth Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I like it. Does anyone know when will it be up for sale in Thailand and how much will it cost?
indothai Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 It's on sale in BKK now. You can see it in the showrooms. I've seen it in person and I think it looks good.
Gary A Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I had nearly decided on dumping the Toyota 4X4 and buying a new Ford 4X4. My wife still insists that the old Toyota is better than a new Ford. She also put the question to me as why I want another pickup truck. I also have a Nissan pickup. We live out in the boonies and the roads are not well suited for a car. A 4X4 is pretty handy for some of the mud roads here and extra ground clearance is desireable. It appears that the new CR-V drives like a car, has the extra ground clearance and the "Real Time" 4 wheel drive has been improved for 2007. I would hope that it is also more rugged than a car. The Honda seems to be the ideal compromise. If I did not have the Nissan and only had the Toyota 4X4 I would have already ownd the Ford. My Nissan is simply a better truck than the Toyota in my opinion. My wife also would rather drive the Nissan than the Toyota. Anyways, we're off the the Honda dealer to see if they have a new CR-V in stock.
Gary A Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I just got back from car shopping and I must say that I was VERY impressed with the CR-V. Looks great but it appears to have gotten bigger and heavier. The lack of a diesel engine really put me off. I'd imagine the fuel economy will not be very good. The 1,280,000 price tag for the middle model is also more than I wanted to spend. After looking at and pricing about every brand I have decided that the new Nissan Tiida hatchback is what I want. It's cheaper than some and more expensive than others but at 780,000 it looks like more bang for the baht than any of the others. The sedan is about 100,000 cheaper but the hatchback has loads more interior space. The back seat is surprisingly large with a lot of leg room. I also like the Honda Civic but the Nissan Tiida hatchback is much handier and more practical especially with the back seats folded forward.
