CHIANG MAI:-- Eastin Tan hotel in Chiang Mai which is reportedly owned by wellknown businessman Tan Pasakornnatee was on Friday charged with operating without a license.

Chiang Mai’s Muang district officer Saranyu Meethongkham led a team of district officials, police and military personnel to the hotel located in downtown Chiang Mai to investigate if the hotel has an operating license or not.

When the general manager was unable to produce the license as demanded, he was asked to report himself to Phuping Ratnives police station where he was charged with operating the hotel without a license.

Mr Saranyu said that the hotel applied for a license, but it was rejected because the actual location of the hotel and condominium did not match with that stated in the application form.

The Governor of Chiang Mai is aware of 10s, perhaps more than 100, unlicensed hotels in Chiang Mai. He's been planning a crackdown. This one is high profile so will scare owners with less powerful connections than Tan to register... possibly.

Waiting for the 'he is connected and has money, so nothing will happen' brigade.

As usual charge the manager, he is merely an employee, not the owner. If this is the same Tan ,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tan_Passakornnatee founder of Oishi, I'm surprised at the authorities going after such a big fish. You would have thought with his connections, he would be untouchable....

....but has been allowed to come into existence....and operate....for how long now....???

...anything to do with 'who once (still)(?) wields power in that region'....???

Benefactor to many ,gave Mercedes cars away promotion for oishi tea ,also some one won

a 10ml condo, admittedly all in promotions sounds like a very genuine business man.
