Side Effects of Marrying a Much Older Man

What are the side effects of marrying a much older man? I'm talking 20+ years older.

 

I know two Thai girls that recently divorced much older men, both foreigners close to 30 years older than the girls. One of em might've been older than that... The women are both in their early thirties and had been married since their early twenties. And now they're emotional wrecks. One of em is a basket case, depressed all the time, and the other is on her way to becoming an alcoholic. To me, it seems like they're both struggling with the way they sacrificed their youth for a payday, although neither one will admit the relationships were about money. And I'm not aware that either one got that much money out of the deals, but who knows...

 

Situations like this are pretty much exactly why I don't get serious with younger women. I always feel like they'd be sacrificing too much to be with me, even if they truly love me, or think they do... I firmly believe any girl more than 12 or so years younger than me would be happier with a man closer to her age and should not waste an opportunity to find that while she's still young.

 

I know it's a controversial topic around here, and perhaps a bit repetitive. But I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the issue, specifically related to how it impacts the women involved. Hopefully a focused discussion will create new responses.

Imagine you marrying a 30 year older woman and having to live with her every day for years, just to be able to survive and send some money back to your parents. 

 

I think any normal person would go insane at some point. But of course the older men here, who are married to women that could be their daughters, would disagree. But I am sure they would never themselves want to live or have sex with a 30 year older person. 

 

"True love" in these (Grand) Daddy / Daughter relationships are extremely rare, in my opinion. Which also often shows, when the money runs out. And of course it impacts the women involved. Imagine you bringing home and showing your friends a Grand Mother-Girlfriend. They all know why you are with her, which would make anyone normal person sick, when thinking closer about it. I doubt the girls feel great about it... In ALL ways.

 

I know this will be hard to swallow for the Grand Dads here. But I do not care. If you are running around with a 30-40 year younger Thai-girl and you believe she really loves being with you, then you are simply stupid, naive as hell and living in Fantasy Land.

 

If you do not agree on that, then go have sex with a 30-40 year older woman and lets hear how much you enjoyed that. At least I can understand the men who find a much younger partner and inside knows/accepts, what it is really all about. But the guys who believe a 20-30 year old girl, really loves being with a 50-70 year old man are simply lost mentally.

Now what is the man and woman doing the other 23 hours and 40 minutes each day?

 

Some people are happy to have the chance to travel, see new things, buy new clothes, eat out in restaurants and for them, the companionship works.

 

Men and women find intimate friendships in the strangest ways.

 

Who are you to tromp all over their happiness?

Look, If I was bitter or jealous, I would just buy a 30 year younger girlfriend myself. (although it would be illegal). 

 

Do you really truly believe that if money was not the only issue,  then young girls would be interested in these older men at all???

 

If so, then why do we not see tons of these kind of relationships around the world?  Just look at any online dating site. ANY normal woman will be looking for a man near her own age or someone slightly older. Not many will seek a Grand Dad to partner up with. Its not being bitter or jealous.... its being REALISTIC!

 

And I do not believe a 25 year old woman finds it "intimate" kissing her 65 year old "boyfriend" after bathing him and clipping his toe nails.  Its like buying a hooker and believing she really likes you. Plain stupid!

 

Would you enjoy marrying someone that could be your Grand Mother? Very few people would and the main reason people do it, is because of some kind of financial benefit. (People who believe that will make them happy. And if you are extremely poor, you will and can be forced to do things you deep down do not want, but feel you have to do)

I would even fancy a trip down fantasy lane with the well preserved Joan Collins. Grace, elegance, and bearing are beautiful too.  Now, I certainly do appreciate that not all older Thai women are at the same level, but then all western male are not as hot as Brad Pitt, or Liam Neeson or  Denzel Washington etc. are they?

 

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if some ugly tramp stamped uneducated crude low class woman  finds a short obsese farang with  b.o., choking flatulence,  bad teeth and tobacco stained fingers arousing, okie dokie. Let them have fun and share in their mutual happiness.  Your treatise on the evils of these women   hooking up with foreigners  overlooks the fact that many of these women have their own set of  characteristics that makes them either undesirable  by Thai males or that they just don't like  Thai males. Or maybe, just maybe the woman genuinely likes the old chap.  Some old guys are rather cool and fun.

I agree, in rare cases there can be relationships of that kind, that are properly based on real attraction and love. I am sure some women have father issues or something like that...

 

BUT... if we look at this objectively and with a realistic view, then I would claim the following:

 

1. Most Thai-women would prefer a Thai-man. (often also what the married first)

2. Most Thai-women as ALL other women in this world, do not find a much older Farang attractive. Just like most men do not dream of marrying someone 30-40 years older than themselves.

3. Most people 30-40 years older than yourself, is not normally that "Cool" or "Fun".

 

So, Yes, the chances are there... BUT they are very, very, very small. Like finding a hardcore bargirl, who would never lie to you.

Side Effects? Every prescription drug comes with a pamphlet, warning of "side effects".

- In case of a Farang/Thai marriage with an age difference of 20 years or more, the "side effects" may well be:

" Increased risk of Heart-Aches, Head-Aches. Belly-Aches and uncontrollable attacks of despair". Concerning the Farang: "May also lead to financial diarrhea as an additional risk factor".

Problem is: Nobody reads those pamphlets that come with prescription drugs.

Yes, those relationships are found all over the world and if financial happiness is important for the woman, then that is fine. But it still does not change the fact, that if she had her financial issues covered, then she would most likely choose someone closer to her own age. 

 

What people do, is their business. I am just stating the facts.... which are that, in these relationships MONEY is often the main and only factor. 

 

People can have sex with who they want. I dont care and it is their personal choice. I just dont believe, that it does not effect peoples lives deep down. I for sure, would feel like SXXT, if I had to do stuff that fundamentally is totally against, what I would concede as normal for me.

 

On the other hand, if I was offered e.g. 5 mill USD to have sex with an old bag, then I would properly do it. But I would also puke the rest of my life thinking about it and would properly start doing drugs, just to get the mental picture out of my head.

Most of the younger Thai girls who marry older falangs are not sacrificing a glitter career ahead of them in order to do so .

   They will never be self sufficient professionals, working as a cashier in 7/11 on minimum wage is even beyond their expectations in life .

   Most of them will either sit all day long in their bamboo hut in their village , caring for her Thai son whilst her whisky drinking Thai bf is out in the fields earning a few baht or she can spend years in a bikini dancing around a pole in Pattaya .

   The lucky few will meet a well off older felang who can and will provide for her, She will have a nice house and will never have to work again .

   She will go from street class to middle class over night , she goes from the bottom rung of the ladder to half way up it over night .

   It is quite unfair for all the girls who studied hard at school, went to uni and then settled for a menial job and theres Mrs felangs boyfreind with everything without any effort from her part .

   Young  rich guys have no interest in the lower class girls

Good point. I forgot to mention both the women I referred to in the OP had Bachelor's degrees and relatively good jobs. I also know of a couple other, similarly educated young ladies who seem determined to make the same mistake, dating guys 20 years older than them and making plans to wed soon. I guess that's irrelevant though, as what you described is probably the case more times than not.

Lots of girls in Isaan, never were able to finish school due to having to work in the fields to survive

 

Many never had the chance to go or the money to pay for Uni

 

As stated, these girls have zero future. No Thai with any worth wants to marry an Isaan girl that works in the fields.

 

It is a dead end, hopeless life

 

Those that I know that married farangs, it gave them pride and self-worth. Many do an excellent job with the house and family.

 

I do not see it as unfair. People of all walks of life come to Thailand and get married.

 

Is it destiny for 2 people of such different backgrounds to find each other in rural Thailand?

 

Girls that go to Uni are just that. They fall in love with their same age boyfriends, never realizing years later, or when they get pregnant and their BF runs off, that their education is not worth the paper it is written on.

 

We just had some Thai friends  visit us last week in Florida USA.

 

The wife is one of those bleached white, have to be white to be important type of Thai's from Thammasart Uni.

 

She was shocked when we went to the beach and she saw all the sexy, fit, girls with their dark tans.

 

When told no one likes "white as ghost" girls here, she was absolutely shocked and had no idea.

 

Uni girls are the main victims of international marketing and materialism. Have to have the skin bleachers, Iphones, etc.

 

They are victims of their own education which they do not realize until they have made stupid mistakes with BF's their own age, that they will never be able to earn enough to do anything but live in a flat and survive.

i said in the other thread my wife has everything, nice house, very sucsesfull pig farm make between 60k and 90k a month, could be more if we also started selling feed as we buy that direct from the mill at a fraction of the price of the feed shops,

she has all she could ever want in life, 3 bueatiful children, like i say a nice house, nice garden, business, car, tractor,(ok thats mine,)lol, we have a great life together, im due home 31st, been in scotland on an oil refinery, yes i still go all over to work, ive got children to think of and i like to get away to have the craic with the lads, something ive allways done,

so why is my wife with me if she dosnt love me,?

she could end it tomorow and be made for life, as she would have the business and i would always support my children,

That's true. But the ones who married someone they loved at the time can at least say they gave love a chance. I don't know about you, but if I passed up love for some kind of opportunity, I'd regret it for the rest of my life.

i would of thought they would be more emotionally damaged by some greedy no good parents sending them to sell there snatch then marrying an old falang who has taken care of them for a number of years,

married life with a thai lady can be very good, but! you must set ground rules, some dont mind giving to family, im of the opinion that ive worked hard for what i have in this life and so does my wife, she now understands that nothing in this life is free,

What the hell is the OP talking about? Mate you say you don't care but your whinging, whiny posts show that you do. If you don't want to sleep with older women don't, simple. People make choices in their life some effect them for the worse, some better. Yes these women sleep with older men maybe they are playing the long game, maybe financial gain, maybe love, maybe a better life, maybe actually happy you clown. All I know, unlike you, is that they harden up accept their choices and live their lives the best they can. Must be easy for you to preach about what people should and shouldn't do and how abhorrent it is to you. The majority of people to varying extents sacrifice important things in their life for the sake of themselves or their family or their children.  They work in dead end jobs, work under bosses they hate, some work in jobs they don't like, some have never had holidays some work away from their families (particularly in the military or offshore) and spend months and years away from home and don't see their wives and children. I could go on and on but it would only fall on deaf ears. You need to grow up, experience life a little and worry less about how other people choose to deal with hardship and adversity in their lives.

Let's put this in perspective.

In the early 90's, most older men met their younger spouse in a Thai bar, even internet dating, which I am not a fan of, but that's another subject, was not around. Most of the girl's only friends at the time, were fellow bar workers, and the elder farang had no real intention of making a new life in the boondocks, so they decided to settle in a more touristy town. A cheap, registry office type wedding, and now they are an item, she for financial benefit, and he for the trophy bride. No love on her part, and probably only lust on his side, but he falls for the BS lies about her loving him.

This might not be as common now, but I still see,and hear, a lot of it now, even in the rural areas.

Age is just a number and going on them is a Western hangup,you can have a young 40,50,60-year old etc. or an old,grumpy 20,30-something etc!

Plus most of the World's beautiful women prefer older guys because they're sick of guys their age drooling all over them constantly Catherine Zeta Jones,Grace Kelly,Marilyn Monroe etc. I can't be bothered to look them up to list them!

Besides if you want to have kids at 50 or even 40 a woman your own age just doesn't have the equipment unfortunately,plus with a younger wife when the Father passes away the Mother will still be around for many years which is great for the kids there are many advantages.
