What phrase should I use when meeting mourning Thai people?

I would have thought something like "siat jai duay" would have been more appropriate.

You mean how to express condolence?

replace xxx with the relationship to the deceased e.g  พ่อ or แม่

I already know how to be empithetic. I was looking for proper phrasing to go along with the empithetic look!
