Hi, I went to Bumrungrad dental hospital today for a quote for 1 implant front, upper jaw. Will be between 130,000bht and 150,000bht

I like Bumrungrad but that's a lot of dosh made worse by the falling pound.

Any recommendations for somewhere more reasonable? It's not just about price, I'd like a reasonable job done too! ;-)

Any of the larger dental clinics or hospitals should be able to provide 1st class dental implant service - they have been doing for a few years now so not something new or experimental.  As in my 70's I declined such (there was a question of if could be done safely also) at my dental center in Vejthani Hospital and believe price would have been much less that what you were quoted.

I had my implants done at Phyathai in Sri Racha by a specialist. 40,000B each. I'm still alive and my implants are still attached to me and doing what they are supposed to. Cant quite see what extra I would have got by paying three or four times as much.

How long ago did you get your implants done please ?

Between 4 and 2 years ago. I have replied to your PM also.

I think the search function is still broken on here but there have been many dentist/implant related threads both in this forum and the Pattaya one, so looking back through them would be a good idea. I have made several comments about mine.

I personally think that the most important thing is to go with someone who specialises in doing implants and not just a general dentist who does implants too, no matter how good he/she may be at general dentistry. I'm sure the people at Bumrungrad are also specialists, but I dont see the justification for that very high price unless perhaps there is something extra that we dont know about?

was that 40,000 baht per implant or per tooth ?

I would need a few "screws" to hold a bridge of 4 teeth,

and what does it look like while you wait the couple months before they put the permanent teeth in ?

do they give you "loaners" for the couple months it takes the implants to heal ?

Search google "Thailand dental implants" or something similar (maybe add the city you are currently in. My wife needs to get two dental implants after we get settled in. Many of the dental clinics have a price list for various brands of dental implants. The prices I saw (a few months ago) were between $1700-$2200 USD per tooth (57,000-74,000 baht per tooth). We were looking at having the procedure done in Chang Mai, but BKK prices were similar.

Each of my implants carried one tooth and they were done at different times. The price included one implant, one post, one crown, the x-rays etc. and the fitting. I imagine that to carry a bridge of four teeth you would not need four implants, though I would leave it to an implantologist to decide the correct number.

My implants were all at the rear of my mouth so the visual aspect was not an issue. I dont know what they do about temporary crowns but in theory the implant needs to be left for several months without any strain on it in order for the bone to grow into it. Only after that do you fit the post and crown(s).

Thanks for all the replies.
The price I was quoted from Bumrungrad was almost 3 times the price back home in the U.K. I was told it wouldn't necessarily be much cheaper here in Thailand, unlike other medical treatments. Something to do with the imported technology I believe.

Highway robbery as Naam said ;-)

Both Bumrungrad and the Dental Hospital quote exceptionally high for implants; I don't know why.

But while other first-class dental practices in Bangkok may not quote exceptionally high for implants, they still quote pretty high these days: implants are not an inexpensive option, at least in the short term.

Totally a rip-off for a Single Tooth Implant treatment! My dentist (Dr. Sunisa) at Bangkok Smile quoted my co-worker who has the same condition (missing front tooth on his upper jaw) with an implant treatment that costs between 60,000 Baht to 75,000 Baht at the most...and this includes a Nobel Biocare Implant (hi-end brand), the implant abutment (or connector), and the dental crown already. In addition, the clinic will be utilizing the MALO surgical technique with the treatment, and even includes an international patient guarantee, meaning that my aussie co-worker can have his procedure done in other Malo clinics around the world in case something goes wrong when he is out of the country.

MOS (Miracle of smile) doing it for 50k, they have multiple offices across Bangkok and from my personal experience they overall does a good service.
